Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchShort answer: YouTube documents how to send a live feed from a compatible encoder, but the available official information does not verify that current VLC can connect to YouTube using its recommended RTMPS ingest or loop a video continuously without interruption. So a VLC-based 24/7 setup should be treated as unconfirmed—not a dependable, documented procedure. You can still check channel eligibility, set up YouTube’s stream details, and test any encoder, but do not promise continuous operation until VLC’s compatibility and looping behavior have been verified in your setup.
What YouTube requires—and what that does not prove about VLC
YouTube’s documented workflow is to create or schedule a stream in Live Control Room, retrieve the ingest URL and stream key, then enter them in a compatible encoder. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which carries RTMP over TLS/SSL. YouTube’s instructions establish the platform-side workflow; they do not certify VLC or show that VLC can deliver a continuous 24/7 stream.
The current VLC-to-YouTube compatibility question remains open: the official information available here does not establish whether VLC supports YouTube’s recommended RTMPS workflow or whether it can loop or restart a file without a break. Do not rely on an assumed VLC menu path or consider a short successful test proof of uninterrupted operation.
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its general live-streaming guidance also says streamers must be at least 16. Check eligibility before preparing the encoder: YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up YouTube’s ingest details
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream.
- Open the stream’s settings and reveal the RTMPS URL if you intend to use encrypted ingest.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder only after confirming that it supports the selected ingest protocol.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not publish it, share it, or include it in a public screenshot; if it is exposed, replace it in YouTube’s settings.
YouTube describes RTMPS as a secure extension of RTMP and recommends it. The encoder must support the selected URL’s protocol. See YouTube Help: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.
Configure and test a compatible encoder
VLC-specific settings cannot be confirmed from the available official documentation. For any encoder that you have verified supports YouTube’s ingest protocol, match the output to the source and YouTube’s current specifications. The exact bitrate depends on resolution, frame rate, and codec; do not treat one bitrate as suitable for every video.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Protocol and codec: YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265, and AV1 options. Confirm the encoder and the selected YouTube ingest support the combination you choose.
- Frame rate: YouTube’s published settings support frame rates up to 60 fps. Choose a rate appropriate to the video rather than converting needlessly.
- Bitrate mode: Use constant bitrate (CBR), as specified in YouTube’s encoder settings.
- Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Example, not a universal preset: For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube lists 5 Mbps as the minimum and 14 Mbps as the recommended bitrate. Other resolutions, frame rates, or codecs call for different settings.
These recommendations are from YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. Check that page for the settings applicable to your chosen output.
Test the feed and monitor it while live
- Before the intended broadcast, test with a video that has similar movement and audio to the material you plan to stream.
- Make sure your available upload bandwidth is about 20% above the stream’s bitrate, following YouTube’s guidance.
- Check the Live Control Room preview for moving video and sound before treating the feed as ready.
- While streaming, monitor stream health and listen to the audio; a connected encoder does not by itself confirm that viewers are receiving a usable feed.
For YouTube’s testing and monitoring guidance, see Streaming tips and YouTube live streaming tips.

Why “24/7” and YouTube archives are separate questions
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish how to keep one stream uninterrupted for 24 hours or longer, nor does it promise a single archive for a continuous 24/7 broadcast. Continuous playback, reconnecting after an interruption, and archive behavior are distinct concerns. Do not infer a 24/7 method from the archive rule; see YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
What to do if the VLC setup is not confirmed
- The encoder will not connect: Confirm the stream is set up in Live Control Room, the URL matches the chosen protocol, and the key is copied correctly. If using RTMPS, verify that the encoder supports it; YouTube does not certify VLC for this workflow in the cited guidance.
- The preview has no picture or sound: Check the encoder’s selected source and output settings, then test with a representative file and confirm both picture and audio in the Live Control Room preview.
- The stream health is poor: Check whether upload bandwidth has the roughly 20% headroom YouTube recommends, and review resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and stream health.
- The video stops or fails to restart: A test can reveal failures, but the available official sources do not verify VLC’s looping or recovery behavior. Do not promise unattended continuity based on an unverified setup.
- You expect one archive for a day-long stream: YouTube’s automatic-archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours; it does not confirm a single archive for a 24/7 stream.
