You would need to supply the replay as video to an encoder or a cloud streaming service, and the exact method depends on the replay file and the tool you use. Before going live, check the recording’s music and other rights, and consider whether the new broadcast offers viewers enough original value.
What YouTube does—and does not—document
YouTube’s Live Control Room lets you create a new encoder stream and reuse settings from a previous stream. Reuse settings copies the earlier stream’s metadata, settings, and stream key; you can change the resulting stream’s settings. For an encoder broadcast, YouTube’s documented workflow is to enter its Live server URL and stream key in the encoder.
Those are documented ways to start a new live event. They are not a documented replay-loop feature: YouTube’s help instructions do not describe a switch that takes an archived replay and repeatedly plays it as a fresh livestream. YouTube also describes a replay as a video that may appear on the channel after a live stream ends; that does not, by itself, establish permission or a procedure for looping it in another live event.
If your replay is available as a video source to your chosen encoder, feeding it into a new encoder stream is technically plausible. That is an inference from the encoder workflow, not a YouTube-stated replay-loop method. Whether it works depends on the encoder and where and in what format the replay is available.

How to set up a new encoder stream with a replay source
- Prepare a replay you can use. Locate the recording in a format and location your encoder can accept as a video source. YouTube’s cited help does not specify how to extract or route an archived replay into an encoder, so the exact source-selection steps depend on your software and setup.
- Create a new stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Start a new encoder livestream. You may reuse settings from a prior stream if useful, or configure the new stream separately. Reuse settings copies the stream key along with the metadata and settings, but you can edit the new stream’s settings.
- Configure the encoder feed. Enter the YouTube Live server URL and the stream key in your encoder, then select the replay as its video input if the encoder supports that source. YouTube’s documented encoder setup covers the server URL and key, not the replay-specific source configuration.
- Check the output before relying on it. Confirm that the video and audio are the intended replay and that the encoder is actually sending a feed to the new event. The cited YouTube instructions do not establish a universal loop control or guarantee continuous playback; consult the encoder’s instructions for its repeat or playback behavior.
- Protect the stream key. Reusing settings copies the key, so treat it as sensitive. YouTube compares a stream key to a password and address: do not share it publicly, and replace it if you believe someone else has obtained it.
Check rights in the whole gaming recording
Creating the gameplay broadcast does not necessarily mean you own or have permission to rebroadcast every element in it. Review the entire replay, especially background music, licensed tracks, cutscenes, overlays, and any other third-party audio or video. YouTube’s Live Stream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary worldwide rights for live content, expressly including music licensing rights.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects such material, it may warn you, replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. An archived stream may also receive a Content ID claim after the live broadcast ends. Rights clearance is therefore worth checking before the new stream starts, not just after a claim appears.

Copyright and monetization are separate questions
A replay can raise a copyright issue even if it is your own broadcast, because the recording may contain material you do not control. Separately, having rights to the recording does not guarantee that repeating it will meet YouTube’s monetization policies.
YouTube says its monetization policy applies to live streams and identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as “inauthentic content.” Its reused-content review considers whether repurposed material adds significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value. The policy page notes a July 15, 2025 clarification that renamed repetitious content as inauthentic content and says the reused-content policy did not change.

Consider giving the new event a distinct purpose—for example, adding live commentary, context, a new challenge, or meaningful editing—rather than simply replaying the same material without a new contribution. These may add viewer value, but they do not guarantee monetization approval. The cited policy does not say that every rebroadcast of your own archive is automatically disallowed, nor does it settle this exact replay-loop scenario.
