Yes. On compatible Fire TV devices, the simplest current method is to install the official Stremio app from the Amazon Appstore. Stremio announced official Fire OS Appstore availability on December 16, 2025, so sideloading is now a fallback rather than the default. However, availability can still vary by Fire TV model, Fire OS version, and Amazon account region.
Stremio is a media-center interface, not a subscription catalog that automatically supplies movies and television shows. The content and playable sources you see depend on the addons you install and whether those sources are authorized in your country.
What you need before installing Stremio
- A compatible Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, or Fire TV television.
- An internet connection and a current Fire OS installation.
- Sufficient free storage.
- An Amazon account for Appstore installation.
- A Stremio account, which is optional but useful for synchronizing addons and viewing information across devices.
Common Fire TV devices—including the Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV televisions—may support Stremio, but compatibility should not be assumed to be identical across every generation or region.

Method 1: Install Stremio from the Amazon Appstore
This is the recommended method for most FireStick owners. It avoids downloading an APK from an unverified website, does not require changing installation permissions, and—according to Stremio—receives automated updates.
- Turn on the Fire TV device and connect it to the internet.
- From the home screen, select Find, the search icon, or the Appstore search option.
- Search for Stremio.
- Open the listing that identifies the official Stremio application. Do not choose an app merely because its name or icon looks similar.
- Select Get, Download, or Install.
- When installation finishes, select Open.
- Sign in to Stremio, create an account, or use guest mode if that option is offered.
Stremio’s announcement about Fire OS availability is at the official Stremio blog. The exact button labels and home-screen layout may vary by device and software version.
Why the Appstore method is preferable

If Stremio does not appear in the Appstore
A missing listing does not necessarily mean that Stremio cannot run on your device. It may indicate a regional restriction, a compatibility rule, an indexing problem, an outdated Fire OS version, or an unusual or restricted Fire TV model.

- Search for the exact word Stremio from the Appstore on the Fire TV itself.
- Restart the Fire TV device.
- Install any available Fire OS updates.
- Confirm the exact model under Settings → My Fire TV → About.
- Check that your Amazon account country and storefront are correct.
- Check available storage.
- Do not substitute an app with a similar name unless its publisher and source are verified.
These situations are different: an app can be absent from a regional store, incompatible with a model, visible but unable to install, or installed but unable to launch. Identify which problem you have before choosing a remedy.

Method 2: Sideload the official Android TV APK
Use sideloading only when the official Appstore listing is unavailable or unusable and your device permits installation from outside the store. Download the APK only from Stremio’s official downloads page. Avoid APK mirrors, URL shorteners, file-hosting pages, Telegram links, and websites advertising “FireStick apps.”
Enable the relevant Fire TV settings
- Open Settings.
- Select My Fire TV or Device.
- Select About.
- Highlight the device name and press the remote’s select button repeatedly. Amazon documents clicking the device entry seven times on some Fire OS versions.
- Return to the previous menu and open Developer Options.
- Enable the option named Install Unknown Apps or Apps from Unknown Sources, depending on the software version.
On newer Fire OS versions, permission is usually granted to a particular installer rather than globally. Enable it for Downloader only when needed, and revoke it afterward if you will not use Downloader again. Amazon’s developer documentation explains the developer-settings process at its Fire TV ADB guide. Amazon also warns that it is not responsible for problems caused by unknown or untrusted applications.
Install with Downloader
- Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore.
- Open Downloader and enter the address of the official Stremio downloads page: stremio.com/downloads.
- Choose Stremio for Android TV.
- Select the newest APK listed on the official page.
- Choose the architecture appropriate for your device.
- Allow Downloader to install the application if Fire OS prompts you.
- Open Stremio after installation.
- Delete the downloaded APK if storage is limited.
- Revoke Downloader’s installation permission if it is no longer required.
APK version numbers change. The version displayed on an older screenshot or in an older guide may not be the current release. Use the version shown on the official downloads page at the time you install.
Which Stremio APK should you choose?
Stremio’s Android TV downloads can include ARM, ARM64, and x86_64 builds. These refer to processor architectures; choosing the wrong one can produce an installation error or an app that does not run correctly.

- ARM: the practical first choice when you do not know the device architecture and compatibility is the priority.
- ARM64: use when your Fire TV model and Fire OS environment are known to support it.
- x86_64: do not use unless the device documentation specifically identifies an x86_64 processor.
This is a decision rule, not a guarantee. A failed installation can also result from insufficient storage, a conflicting older installation, a corrupted download, or a device restriction.
Advanced alternative: install with ADB
Technically experienced users can install an APK from a computer with Android Debug Bridge after enabling the required Fire TV developer settings and network debugging:
adb install <path-to-apk-file>Amazon documents this command in its Fire TV installation guide. ADB is unnecessary for most readers; the Appstore and Downloader methods are simpler.
Open and set up Stremio
After installation, launch Stremio from the home screen. If it does not appear there, use Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Stremio → Launch application. The exact path can vary by Fire OS version.

Sign in with an existing Stremio account or create one if you want synchronization across supported devices. Guest mode may be available, but it can limit account-based synchronization. Stremio will not necessarily show playable sources immediately after installation: you generally need to install addons through the addon catalog or an addon’s installation link.
Review every addon’s source, privacy implications, and legal status before installing it. Stremio describes its addon system as providing catalogs, metadata, streams, and subtitles; it does not itself supply the underlying movies or television shows. Installing Stremio does not automatically provide free access to every film, series, sports event, or live channel. The application organizes information and playback sources supplied through addons.
Some addons connect to legitimate streaming services or other authorized sources. Others may surface material without the necessary authorization. You are responsible for complying with copyright law, licensing terms, and local regulations. Stremio’s addon framework does not make every third-party addon safe, private, or lawful.

A VPN is not required simply to install or run Stremio. Whether one is appropriate depends on your privacy preferences, network policy, jurisdiction, and the legality of the sources you use. A VPN is not a substitute for lawful access and does not make copyright infringement legal.
Fix common FireStick Stremio problems

Not every playback problem is caused by the FireStick. The source, addon, network, codec, audio format, and device storage or memory can each contribute.
Is Stremio free?
The core Stremio application is free to install and use. Stremio also offers optional Supporter contribution plans. The official Supporter page displayed an annual plan of $39.99 and a lifetime plan of $199.99 when checked for this guide; prices and benefits can change.
Supporter access is not required to install Stremio, use the basic application, or obtain a licensed streaming subscription. It should not be confused with a catalog subscription that grants access to every title. Stremio’s announcement describes optional experimental features and support for development at the official blog.
Is Stremio worth using on a FireStick?
Stremio is a reasonable choice if you want a single interface for addon-based catalogs, metadata, subtitles, and playback sources, especially when cross-device synchronization is useful. The official Appstore listing also makes setup substantially easier on eligible devices than older guides suggest.
It may be a poor fit if your Fire TV model is restricted, your device has very limited storage or performance, you require a fully supported official app with no sideloading, or you only want licensed services such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, or Max. In those cases, use the services’ native apps or consider a device with officially supported Stremio availability and stronger hardware.
Stremio lists Android TV, Google TV-related platforms, Samsung TV, LG TV, Sony TV, Philips TV, Hisense TV, and browser options among its supported platforms, although availability and feature depth vary. Check the official downloads page before buying another device.
