Yes—but it is not an Apple keyboard or an officially confirmed Apple TV+ product. The real device is Atomic Keyboard’s MDR Dasher Keyboard, a limited-run mechanical keyboard inspired by the blue Macrodata Refinement terminals in Severance and the vintage Data General Dasher terminal. It has been promoted through reservations and Kickstarter rather than as ordinary, in-stock retail hardware, and its delivery schedule has changed.
Atomic advertised an early-adopter price from $599 and a stated eventual retail price of $899. Its latest publicly indexed production documentation, dated May 2026, still described firmware, component, and assembly work in progress. Treat it as a collector-oriented crowdfunded project, not a keyboard you can assume is immediately available.
The fictional Lumon keyboard and the real MDR Dasher are different products
The confusion began with Apple’s Severance promotional presentation of a fictional Lumon Terminal Pro. That computer appeared on Apple’s website as part of the show’s marketing, but it was not an orderable Apple product.

Nothing in the available product material establishes that it is an Apple-manufactured keyboard or an officially licensed Severance prop. “Severance-inspired” and “MDR-style” are safer descriptions than “official Severance keyboard.”
What the MDR Dasher looks like
The MDR Dasher is designed to look more like a piece of fictional office machinery than a conventional modern keyboard. Its headline features include:

Atomic’s launch material describes the original design as a 73-key, 70% keyboard. The final product’s dimensions, switches, connectivity, firmware behavior, included accessories, and operating-system support should be checked against the specific purchase information rather than assumed from early announcements.
Three layouts: Innie, Outie, and Dasher
The keyboard is built around interchangeable configurations. Atomic describes replaceable magnetic top sheets or layout modules, with a trackball module and numeric keypad presented as part of the configuration concept. Physically changing the keyboard is not the same as instantly switching a software keymap: users may need to replace or reposition parts and confirm which components are included in their purchase tier.

The Innie layout is the most recognizable—and potentially the least practical
The Innie arrangement is the obvious choice for a collector who wants the strongest visual connection to Severance. Its trackball and stripped-down modifier arrangement help it resemble the terminal seen in the show.
That same fidelity creates usability problems. People who rely on standard Mac or Windows shortcuts may find the missing or relocated modifier keys frustrating. A compact layout also generally sacrifices dedicated navigation and function-row keys. Remapping may help, but it will not eliminate the physical learning period.

The Outie configuration is intended to be more familiar. It is the strongest candidate for daily typing among the three, although “more practical” does not mean conventional. Buyers should still expect a compact layout and should verify the final keymap and included components before ordering.
The Dasher layout is aimed at numeric entry
The Dasher version replaces the trackball-focused arrangement with a numeric-keypad-oriented design. That makes it potentially more useful for spreadsheets, data entry, or anyone who regularly works with numbers. It is closer to the vintage Dasher concept, but it does not solve the keyboard’s size, price, or collector-product trade-offs.
Features Atomic has advertised
According to Atomic’s product and launch material, the MDR Dasher includes or supports:
- Hot-swappable switch positions
- A universal PCB and plate intended to support multiple layouts
- Swappable top layout sheets or modules
- An Innie trackball configuration
- A web-based configurator for layouts, macros, and controls
- No required desktop configuration application, according to Atomic
“No software required” should be read carefully. Atomic advertises browser-based configuration, but firmware updates, browser support, connection details, and final compatibility requirements are separate questions. The available material does not provide a complete independently verified compatibility matrix for macOS, Windows, or Linux.
Mac users were an important part of the original coverage, but prospective buyers should confirm the final connection method and macOS support with Atomic. The product should not be treated as an Apple accessory simply because its fictional inspiration appeared in an Apple promotion.
Price: why you may see $599, $699, and $899
The price changed as the project moved from announcement to campaign. The clearest current pricing signals are:
- $10 reservation: Atomic promoted a deposit intended to unlock early-adopter access.
- From $599: the advertised early-adopter starting price associated with the campaign and reservation process.
- $899: Atomic’s stated eventual retail price.
Some coverage also described staged prices such as $649 and $699. Those figures reflect different stages or tiers reported during the launch, not a universal price that every buyer could claim.

Price should therefore be treated as historical and conditional rather than as a guaranteed current offer. Check the official Atomic shop for the active reservation or purchase terms. Shipping, taxes, customs charges, and the exact components included in a particular tier were not established by the available sources and should not be assumed to be included.

When will it ship?
Atomic initially promoted an estimated November shipping window. After the Kickstarter campaign launched, coverage reported that the target moved to January 2026. That date was an estimate, not a guarantee.
More importantly, Atomic’s latest publicly indexed production documentation available for this article, from May 2026, listed overall progress at 87% while still describing work involving firmware tuning, trackball electronics, case production, packaging, and assembly preparation. The documentation is available through Atomic’s production updates.
No reliable source in the available material confirms that all backers had received their keyboards by August 2026. The practical conclusion is that the project was in production and late-stage development, but should not automatically be described as normal buy-now retail stock. A reservation, Kickstarter pledge, pre-order, and in-stock purchase are different things, with different delivery risks.
Is it a keyboard or a collector’s piece?
It is intended to be a functioning mechanical keyboard, but its design strongly favors collectors and dedicated enthusiasts.
The 7-kilogram aluminum enclosure, show-oriented Innie layout, integrated trackball, and modular hardware make it far more distinctive than a typical mechanical keyboard. They also make it expensive, heavy, less familiar, and harder to evaluate without trying one.
The trackball may be useful for some desk setups, but it should not automatically be considered a replacement for a dedicated mouse. A right-side trackball may also be a concern for left-handed users; reported limitations should be confirmed with Atomic before purchase.
Who should consider buying it?
It makes sense for:
- Dedicated Severance collectors
- Mechanical-keyboard enthusiasts who enjoy unusual layouts
- Desk-setup builders who want a highly distinctive centerpiece
- Users specifically interested in the trackball and modular case
- Buyers comfortable with Kickstarter-style delivery uncertainty
It is a poor fit for:
- Anyone who needs a conventional keyboard immediately
- Office users who rely on standard modifier, navigation, and function keys
- People with limited desk space
- Buyers seeking a lightweight or portable keyboard
- Anyone unwilling to risk a delayed or evolving crowdfunded product
- Fans who only want the blue-and-Lumon visual theme
The price is difficult to justify as a purely functional purchase. A mainstream mechanical keyboard can deliver switch customization and programmable controls without the MDR Dasher’s cost, weight, or unusual ergonomics. The Atomic product’s value comes from the combination of fandom, physical design, and rarity.
Cheaper ways to get the Lumon look
If the goal is atmosphere rather than a full prop-like recreation, there are less expensive options:
- A themed keycap: The Capsmiths Lumon Industries keycap was listed at $25 on January 30, 2026 and is designed for MX-style switches. It adds a small, recognizable reference to an existing keyboard.
- A blue-and-cream mechanical keyboard: A conventional board with a matching color scheme can reproduce much of the visual impression while retaining familiar controls.
- Dasher-style keycaps: A keycap set can evoke the terminal design without requiring a custom aluminum enclosure or integrated trackball.
- A DIY build: Hobbyists can combine a programmable PCB, blue keycaps, an aluminum case, and custom firmware. This offers more control over layout and ergonomics, but will not guarantee the MDR Dasher’s case geometry, trackball integration, or finish.
These alternatives do not reproduce the complete object. They are better choices for readers who want the aesthetic without spending hundreds of dollars or accepting the delivery risk attached to a limited production run.
Questions to check before paying
- Is the item currently available as in-stock retail hardware, or is it still a reservation, pledge, or pre-order?
- Which of the Innie, Outie, and Dasher components are included in the exact tier?
- Are shipping, taxes, customs, and fees charged separately?
- What connection method and operating systems are supported?
- Can the trackball module be used comfortably for your dominant hand?
- What is the current delivery estimate, and what happens if it slips again?
- Are returns, refunds, and warranty coverage different for Kickstarter backers and later retail buyers?
These questions matter more here than they would for a normal keyboard because the product has a high price, a modular configuration, and a development history that includes schedule changes.
Verdict
The MDR Dasher is real, ambitious, and visually close to the world of Severance, but it is not an Apple product, not the fictional Lumon Terminal Pro, and not a routine inexpensive keyboard. It is a collector-oriented mechanical keyboard with a trackball option, interchangeable layouts, heavy aluminum construction, and a price advertised from $599 for early adopters versus a stated $899 retail price.
For a devoted fan who wants the physical object and accepts crowdfunding risk, it may be compelling. For everyone else, a Lumon keycap, themed keycap set, or custom blue mechanical keyboard will capture much of the look at a fraction of the price and with fewer usability concerns.
