Yes. YouTube’s general documentation says you can create a custom stream key for reuse, or load settings from a previous stream. That lets an encoder reconnect using the same key; it does not make the playlist run, guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast, or establish how YouTube will archive a stream longer than 12 hours. The cited guidance describes general YouTube rules, not a separate India-specific rule for stream-key reuse.
What reusing a YouTube stream key does—and does not do
A stream key is a credential an encoder uses to send its video feed to YouTube. YouTube Help explicitly says: “To reuse the same stream key, create a custom stream key.” You can also load a previous stream’s settings, including its key. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings
Reusing a key makes it possible to reconnect an encoder without creating a different key each time. It does not itself create a scheduled event, loop videos, monitor the encoder, or keep a feed running after the encoder stops. For a 24/7 playlist, the encoder or streaming service still has to send the video continuously and recover if the feed is interrupted.
Reusable key versus one continuous broadcast
| What you are doing | What the key does | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Separate, repeated sessions | Reconnect the encoder with the custom key, and optionally reuse previous stream settings. | You start and end each session through the encoder workflow. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. |
| One continuous 24/7 broadcast | The encoder may use the same key, but the key alone does not keep the feed alive. | You must maintain and monitor the feed. YouTube’s cited guidance does not promise uninterrupted operation or specify how a broadcast longer than 12 hours will be archived as a single video. |
YouTube’s encoder guidance says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” Do not assume that this guarantees a single archive for a longer stream. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up a reusable key and connect an encoder
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s current guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. It lists a minimum age of 16, up to 10 active streams per channel, and up to 3 active streams per stream key. These are YouTube Help figures visible in the guidance in 2026; the pages do not display a publication year, and platform rules can change. See Get started with live streaming.
- Open YouTube Studio’s live workflow. Go to YouTube Studio → Create → Go live, then use the Stream tab. Create a custom stream key if you want to reuse one. When returning to the encoder workflow, you can also load a previous stream’s settings.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the YouTube Live server URL and the stream key in your encoder. YouTube provides the connection details in the live workflow; use the values shown there rather than sharing or guessing them. Encoder types and connection steps are covered in YouTube’s encoder instructions.
- Start the feed and check the preview. Start sending video from the encoder, then check the Live Control Room preview before proceeding with the start controls for your chosen stream mode. Use the relevant encoder and YouTube controls to end the session when you intend to stop it.
- For another session, reconnect deliberately. Reuse the custom key or load the previous settings, then confirm the encoder is sending the intended playlist and that the Live Control Room receives it. Reusing settings is not the same as YouTube guaranteeing a continuous event across stops or disconnections.
Protect the key and monitor a long-running feed
Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, include it in screenshots, or give it to people who should not control your broadcast. If it is exposed or compromised, YouTube documents a reset option in Live Control Room. After resetting it, replace the old key in the encoder; the old credential will no longer be the one to use. Manage live stream settings
For a continuous playlist, monitor both audio and video rather than assuming that a successful initial connection means the stream will remain healthy. YouTube’s live-streaming tips discuss encoder choices and recommend continuously monitoring audio and video quality. YouTube describes software and hardware encoders; professional-grade hardware encoders are a recommendation for higher-production-value events, not a stated requirement for a playlist. Common problems and what to check
- The encoder cannot connect: Confirm that it has the YouTube Live server URL and the current key from the Stream workflow. Check whether you reset the key; if so, update the encoder with the replacement.
- The feed stops when you close a program or device: A reusable key does not run an encoder for you. The encoder must remain active and send the feed, or you need another setup that does so.
- A restarted feed is not the same event you expected: Reusing a key reconnects the encoder; it does not promise that YouTube will treat separate sessions as one uninterrupted broadcast. Check the selected stream workflow and its start/end controls.
- You expect one archive of a 24/7 stream: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours. Its cited guidance does not establish the archive outcome for a longer continuous broadcast.
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification and whether the channel has had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Also check the active-stream limits shown in YouTube’s current eligibility guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a pre-recorded YouTube playlist that stays live without leaving an encoder running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera or to platforms other than YouTube.
