Yes—if “offline” means you are away from your device while the broadcast stays live. Super Chat is a paid message shown in live chat on eligible YouTube live streams and Premieres. YouTube’s published requirements do not say the creator must be physically present, so an unattended stream may receive Super Chats while it is running. That is an inference from YouTube’s stated rules, not a promise that an unattended stream will stay live or that viewers will make purchases.
If the broadcast itself is offline, or live chat is unavailable, the guidance does not support expecting viewers to buy Super Chats at that time.
What “offline” means for Super Chat
There are two different situations:
- You are away; the broadcast is live: The stream can still have live chat, and YouTube’s requirements do not list the creator’s physical presence as a condition for Super Chat.
- The broadcast has ended or is not live: Super Chat is a feature for live chat on eligible live streams and Premieres. The cited YouTube guidance does not say that viewers can buy it while the broadcast is offline.
YouTube describes the feature this way: “Super Chat and Super Stickers are ways to connect fans with creators during live streams and Premieres.” (YouTube Help: Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility, availability and policies.)

Channel and creator eligibility
YouTube’s general fan-funding requirements include participation in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), being at least 18, living in a location where the feature is available, and meeting the applicable terms. You must accept and comply with the Commerce Product Module or the applicable legacy addendum, and enable the feature in YouTube Studio. Individual features can have additional requirements. Eligibility of the particular stream
Even if the channel qualifies, Super Chat is unavailable on certain videos, including age-restricted, unlisted, private, and Made for Kids videos. It is also unavailable when live chat or comments are disabled. YouTube says Supers are automatically available on eligible live streams and Premieres where chat is turned on. Check the current Super Chat eligibility and availability rules, since access can depend on location and feature terms.
Check before leaving a 24/7 stream unattended
- Confirm channel eligibility and feature access. In YouTube Studio, check the Earn area for the Supers section and verify that the feature is enabled for your channel.
- Check the stream’s status and settings. Confirm that the broadcast is live and that live chat is available. Make sure the video is not private, unlisted, age-restricted, or marked Made for Kids if you expect Supers.
- Verify it is still running after you leave. The absence of a creator-presence requirement in the published rules does not guarantee that a broadcast will remain online. YouTube does not document a special unattended-stream mode or guarantee uninterrupted operation.
- Review activity afterward. YouTube says Supers can be viewed in Live Control Room, its mobile app, or the website, with revenue reported in Analytics. Super Chat income is not guaranteed
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted. YouTube currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. This describes the share of confirmed Supers revenue; it does not predict whether viewers will buy Super Chats or how much a stream will earn. Super Chat and ads are separate monetization features. YouTube lists both among live-stream earning options, but ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Its reported average uplift of over 20% in in-stream ad revenue per hour concerns creators who chose live automatic mid-roll ads versus channels without them, averaged across 207 countries in January 2024; it is not a Super Chat estimate or an earnings forecast for an unattended stream. A 24/7 stream can only receive Super Chats while it is live with eligible chat available. If your streaming setup depends on a computer at home, that computer and its connection need to keep the broadcast running; YouTube does not guarantee an uninterrupted unattended stream.
