Camila and Matthew McConaughey’s croquet game was an advertisement for their Pantalones Organic Tequila, not a reported public match. Its joke was simple: they looked dressed up above the waist and pantless below it, with the lower half blurred.
What happens in the croquet ad?
PEOPLE, in coverage republished by Yahoo, recapped the May advertisement in a July 24, 2024 story. It describes the couple playing croquet in a sunny backyard while promoting Pantalones Organic Tequila. The coverage does not give the exact May date, a campaign title, or a filming location.
The visual gag pairs dressed-up tops with bare lower halves obscured by blur. That contrast—not the croquet itself—is the ad’s central joke.
Why are they doing the pantless bit again?
The croquet spot fits a recurring marketing device for the brand: related campaigns have also shown the couple without pants. In a statement quoted by The Daily Pour in its May 2, 2024 coverage of a Cinco de Mayo pickleball ad, Matthew and Camila explained the idea this way: “We’re precious about our tequila, not our pants.”

What is Pantalones Organic Tequila?
The McConaugheys launched the brand in October 2023. PEOPLE’s launch coverage, republished by Yahoo, described three expressions and their reported flavor profiles:
