Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf CameraFi Live stays on “preparing,” first confirm that YouTube Live is enabled for the channel, finish any stream setup prompted in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, and make sure CameraFi and YouTube Studio are using the same channel. Then check for an authentication error, an expired stream, another active broadcast, or a YouTube account notice. CameraFi’s published guidance does not explain the exact “preparing” status, so these are diagnostic checks—not a confirmed cause for that label.
1. Confirm YouTube Live is enabled for the channel
CameraFi’s July 11, 2025 setup guide lists YouTube Live streaming enabled as a requirement. If you have only just enabled live streaming, CameraFi says activation may take up to 24 hours. That is the app publisher’s guidance, not a measured average or a guarantee; wait for activation, then try again.
Check the specific channel you intend to broadcast from. If your Google account has more than one YouTube channel, enabling or verifying one does not automatically enable or verify the others.
2. Finish the stream setup in YouTube Live Control Room
In CameraFi’s Go Live Now workflow, the app may direct you to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room to create and configure a stream before you return to CameraFi. If you see that prompt, complete the setup rather than closing it midway.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open the YouTube Studio Live Control Room for the channel you intend to use.
- Create or configure the live stream, including its details and audience designation.
- Save the settings in YouTube Studio.
- Return to CameraFi Live and continue from its camera/start screen. CameraFi’s 2025 guide describes tapping Create to proceed.
CameraFi’s older Live Control Room guide also documents first-stream setup, an expired older stream, and channel changes after login as possible reasons to create a fresh stream in Live Control Room. Its screen directions date to 2020, so follow the current YouTube Studio interface rather than assuming those older labels still match.
3. Check that both apps are on the intended channel
Confirm the channel shown in CameraFi Live, then check the channel selected in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. They need to match. If you broadcast from a Brand Channel, make sure you have switched to that channel in YouTube Studio; being signed into the right Google account alone may not mean the right channel is selected.

4. Reauthenticate only if there is an account or login clue
CameraFi’s error-message guide associates “Authentication YouTube is null” with an authentication problem and recommends logging out of YouTube in CameraFi Live, then signing in again. Use that remedy if you see an authentication error or have a clear session issue. The guidance does not establish authentication as the cause of every indefinite “preparing” screen.
5. Look for an existing broadcast or a YouTube notice
CameraFi documents a “_Reason=live” error that can occur when the same account is already broadcasting from another phone or computer. If you see that error, end the other broadcast and retry. Its guide also associates a revoked-access error with a previously removed broadcast and advises checking for a warning email from YouTube. These are fixes for those specific cases, not universal explanations for “preparing.”

6. Test the connection if the stream also buffers or disconnects
CameraFi’s mobile streaming tips address buffering and disconnections, not the exact “preparing” status. If you are also seeing connection instability, use these checks:
- Use one stable connection rather than leaving Wi-Fi and mobile data active together.
- Measure upload speed, not just download speed.
- Close other apps that may be using the connection or the phone’s resources.
- CameraFi suggests keeping bitrate around 75% of measured upload speed. Treat that as general stability guidance: actual results can depend on platform conditions and YouTube’s bitrate limits.
7. Gather details if it still will not proceed
There is no published CameraFi timeout that defines when “preparing” has failed. If the checks above do not help, send CameraFi a detailed report; its FAQ says detailed issue descriptions help and lists [email protected] as its support email.

What “preparing” does—and does not—tell you
CameraFi’s official materials document setup, channel selection, authentication, expired streams, concurrent broadcasts, and account notices as separate problems. They do not define what the “preparing” label itself means or tie it to one cause. Do not assume from that label alone that the stream key is bad, the connection is weak, YouTube is down, or the app has a particular bug. The right next step depends on the screen, any error message, and the account and device context. The recent setup instructions cited here are from July 2025; some troubleshooting pages date to 2020 and may describe older screens.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube channel built from uploaded videos rather than a live camera broadcast, StreamNeo is a different approach: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos in the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start the free first day on StreamNeo.
