Brett Gelman, who plays Murray Bauman, said Stranger Things Season 5 filming was going well while production was underway. That was a positive update from the set at the time—not a report on how audiences would respond to the finished season. Filming later wrapped, and Netflix has since presented Season 5 as the series’ final chapter.
What Brett Gelman said about Season 5 filming
During production, Us Weekly reported that Gelman was about halfway through filming the Netflix series’ final season. He described the work as “going great” and said it was “going to be amazing,” according to the publication’s contemporaneous account: Us Weekly’s filming update. The remarks express Gelman’s optimism during production; they are not a guarantee about the season’s quality or audience reaction.
Who is Brett Gelman in Stranger Things?
Gelman plays Murray Bauman, the eccentric investigative journalist who becomes an ally to the Hawkins group. The title’s “Stranger Things actor” refers to Gelman, not to a separate cast member or an unnamed production representative.
Is Season 5 still filming?
No. Gelman’s comment was made while filming was in progress. Later coverage reported that production had wrapped, and Netflix’s official Season 5 retrospective describes the final season and its yearlong shoot. Netflix has also published a retrospective on the series finale, confirming that the season is no longer an upcoming production.

- In 1980s Indiana a group of friends witness supernatural forces and government exploits. In searching for answers, they unravel a series of mysteries.
How to read the update
The report is useful as a snapshot of the cast’s outlook during filming: Gelman was enthusiastic, and the season was still being made. It should not be mistaken for a current status report or a review of the released episodes. The exact publication date and original publication record for the supplied headline have not been established, so the comment is best understood in its reported production context rather than assigned a more specific date.
