Is Brendan Fraser coming back for The Mummy 4?
Yes. Universal announced that Fraser and Rachel Weisz had closed deals to return as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell. The announcement calls the project a fourth installment; it did not disclose plot details. Variety’s announcement report also describes the franchise as having grossed $1.8 billion at the time of its February 11, 2026 publication. That is a reported franchise total, not a forecast for the new film.

Is Michelle Yeoh in The Mummy 4?
Michelle Yeoh’s casting has not been confirmed in the reviewed reporting. Universal’s announcement names Fraser and Weisz as returning stars and lists the filmmakers, but does not announce Yeoh. Her appearance on Variety’s Brendan Fraser topic page is in a separate Actors on Actors feature, not evidence that she is attached to the sequel. This is not a claim that she has been ruled out; later casting news could change the answer.
What has Brendan Fraser said about the new film?
In an Associated Press interview about the announced sequel, Fraser said, “The one I wanted to make was never made.” He added: “But the one I wanted to make is forthcoming. And I’ve been waiting 20 years for this call.”

In a Variety report on his Tonight Show appearance, Fraser said, “We’re gonna get the band back together.” The report also notes that he talked about preparing and training for the film; it does not establish an endorsement of a particular fitness product or method.
Who is making The Mummy 4?
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known together as Radio Silence, are directing from a screenplay by David Coggeshall. Sean Daniel returns as a producer, alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein. Fraser is an executive producer. These credits and the release date were reported in Variety’s project announcement coverage.

When does The Mummy 4 come out?
Universal’s announced wide theatrical date is May 19, 2028. Studio release schedules can shift, so treat that as the currently announced date rather than a guarantee. The announcement did not reveal a story synopsis. Weisz’s return reunites the original Rick and Evelyn pairing from The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001); she was not in 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
