The Studio City house associated with The Brady Bunch sold for $3.2 million in 2023, after HGTV listed it for $5.5 million in May. The sale price was $2.3 million below the asking price. The home is famous for its exterior, while the sitcom’s interior scenes were filmed on a soundstage.
How much did the Brady Bunch house sell for?
The house sold for $3.2 million in 2023. HGTV had put it on the market for $5.5 million that May, making the difference between the asking price and sale price $2.3 million. A Los Angeles Times retrospective published in March 2026 rounded that gap to $2 million; the $2.3 million figure follows directly from the reported listing and sale prices.
The sale followed HGTV’s 2018 purchase of the property for $3.5 million after a bidding war. These are separate real-estate transactions; the later renovation costs should not be treated as part of either purchase price.
What HGTV changed in the house
HGTV renovated the property for its 2019 miniseries A Very Brady Renovation. The Los Angeles Times reported a renovation cost of $1.9 million and a 2,000-square-foot addition. After the work, the house measured more than 5,000 square feet and had five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

The renovation recreated interiors inspired by the television show. That distinction matters: the actual house had supplied exterior shots, but the Brady family’s indoor scenes were filmed on a soundstage, not in this home.
Who bought it, and what came with the house?
Tina Trahan and her husband, Chris Elbrecht, bought the property in 2023. The Los Angeles Times described Trahan as a historic-home enthusiast and reported that some Brady-themed furnishings, including a green floral couch, came with the house.

- Integrated Motor: When you open the remote control panel located directly beneath the TV screen, you will see that we have included a compact, integrated rechargeable motor in this set; it provides the rotational power for both the Ferris wheel and the train.

- Suitable Settings: This set is perfect for display in living rooms, offices, or the display cabinets of building block enthusiasts. With a piece count of over 2,700, it presents a relatively challenging build; however, it also stands out as a truly unique gift among the many high-difficulty building block sets available.
The sale did not include rights to The Brady Bunch or its characters. The property’s connection to the show is its role as the location used for exterior shots, not ownership of the program’s intellectual property.
What the 2026 historic designation means
In March 2026, the Los Angeles City Council designated the home a Historic-Cultural Monument. The designation adds oversight and protections concerning demolition and alterations, but it does not categorically ban demolition or renovation. The Los Angeles Conservancy’s president, Adrian Scott Fine, said, “If you watched the ‘Brady Bunch,’ you knew this house. People make a pilgrimage to see it.”

Where is the house, and was the show filmed there?
The property is in Studio City, Los Angeles. It was used for exterior shots of the Brady family home. Interior scenes were filmed on soundstage sets, which HGTV later evoked through its renovation. The sources reporting the sale and designation do not establish current tour availability or a tour price.
