Brad Pitt is back as Cliff Booth in The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, Netflix’s newly announced follow-up to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Netflix released the official trailer on Sept. 21, 2026, and says the film will be set in 1977, with a two-week global IMAX engagement starting Nov. 25 and a Netflix debut on Dec. 23, 2026.
What the trailer announces
Netflix’s trailer announcement confirms Pitt’s return as Cliff Booth, with David Fincher directing a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino. Netflix describes the setting this way: “Brad Pitt returns as Cliff Booth, only this time it’s 1977 and it’s a very different Hollywood.” The line is Netflix’s promotional tagline, not a quote attributed to an individual. The film’s official title is The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. Netflix’s dated announcement also bills the story with the promotional line, “Murder, blackmail, theft, extortion — just another summer in Hollywood.” Netflix Tudum
How it follows Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
The 2019 film’s fictional story follows television actor Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth in 1969 Los Angeles, according to Sony’s official film description. The new installment advances that alternate-history timeline eight years, to 1977. It is framed as a continuation of the setting, but its focus shifts to Cliff and his work as a Hollywood fixer. What Netflix says the story is about
Netflix’s synopsis says Cliff earns money bartending and working as a projectionist while taking on problems for Hollywood figures. Talent agent Karen Crosby, played by Elizabeth Debicki, approaches him on behalf of her client Charlie Peters (Scott Caan), a television star known for doing his own stunts. The synopsis also identifies Charlie’s wife Toni (Carla Gugino) and former football champion turned screen actor Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). Netflix names the Verdusco brothers, played by Matt Groove and JB Tadena, as gangsters causing trouble in Los Angeles. Cast and release dates
Netflix also lists Peter Weller, Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian among the cast. Its announced schedule separates the theatrical engagement from the streaming date:

Quentin Tarantino’s book The Adventures of Cliff Booth is a separate novelization, not the film’s title or premiere. The Associated Press reported on Sept. 15, 2026, that Harper, a HarperCollins imprint, scheduled the book for publication on Dec. 8, 2026. Associated Press report
