What was the legal expert’s exclusive about?
In an earlier pretrial Q&A republished by AOL, People interviewed Gregory Doll, a Los Angeles attorney and partner at Doll Amir & Eley. The publication identified him as an outside expert who did not represent either Lively or Baldoni. Among the questions was whether the anticipated trial could be televised.
Doll’s forecast was about 2025
Doll said, “I would put 90% odds you’re not going to see anything in 2025.” That was his subjective forecast in the interview’s pretrial context—not a statistical finding, a court conclusion, or a prediction about what would happen in 2026. The case settled before its planned trial, which was scheduled for after 2025.
What was the lawsuit about?
The dispute arose from the production of the 2024 film It Ends With Us. Lively alleged sexual harassment and retaliation. Those were her claims, not findings reached after a trial; the parties settled before the broader dispute was tried.

Did Lively and Baldoni go to trial?
No trial on the broader dispute took place. The Washington Post reported on May 4, 2026, that the parties had settled before the scheduled federal trial. The complete settlement terms have not been established in the reporting cited here, including whether the agreement contained an admission of liability. The settlement should not be treated as proof that either side’s allegations were true or false.
Did the settlement end the court case?
Not immediately. After the settlement, the parties continued to dispute Lively’s request for legal fees and other relief relating to Baldoni’s dismissed countersuit. The Associated Press reported on May 7 that Lively’s lawyers characterized the settlement as a victory and sought fees or penalties; those characterizations and requests were counsel’s positions.

What happened at the later hearing?
The Associated Press reported that lawyers appeared before Judge Lewis J. Liman on June 1, 2026, over the post-settlement requests. On June 12, the Washington Post reported that the judge allowed recovery of some legal costs but denied punitive damages and other requested relief. That reported ruling concerned the post-settlement fee and penalty dispute; it was not a verdict on the underlying allegations.
