What is known about the stage-fall reference?
The official cancellation notice does not mention a fall or say that one caused, revealed or worsened Joel’s diagnosis. The available reporting cited here does not establish such a connection, so the fall should not be treated as the reason his dates were canceled.
How did the postponement become a cancellation?
March 2025: dates postponed
On March 11, Joel’s official site said concerts were postponed for four months while he recovered from recent surgery and received physical therapy. It said he was expected to make a full recovery. The Associated Press later reported that it was unclear whether those March medical issues were related to the NPH diagnosis.

The May announcement changed the status from postponement to cancellation of all scheduled concerts. The notice listed dates through July 2026. The two announcements do not establish that the March surgery was NPH treatment.
Are Billy Joel ticket holders getting refunds?
The official cancellation notice said refunds would be processed automatically to the original payment method. If a ticket had been transferred, the refund would go to the original purchaser. Ticket holders should check the payment account associated with that purchase for the refund.

Has Billy Joel performed or returned to touring?
Later updates describe recovery and a brief guest appearance, but do not establish a permanent return to touring. In July 2025, Joel told People, as quoted by the Associated Press, “I know a lot of people are worried about me and my health, but I’m OK.” The AP report also said he was still working on his health issues.
MusicRadar reported on September 10, 2026, that Joel had described shunt surgery and some improvement in memory, balance and functioning. It also reported that he was not committing to a permanent return to the stage. Louder reported that he performed two songs as a guest with tribute band Turnstiles on January 2, 2026. That appearance was not a resumed solo tour.
