She did not perform. Her brief remarks focused on motherhood, voting and freedom, at an event centered on reproductive rights.
What happened at the Houston rally?
Beyoncé appeared at Harris’s rally in Houston, her hometown, on Friday, October 25, 2024. She spoke in support of Harris and introduced her to the crowd. The Associated Press reported that Beyoncé did not perform at the event. Associated Press coverage and Roll Call’s Factbase transcript identify the date and Houston setting.
What did Beyoncé say?
Beyoncé framed her appearance around her identity as a mother rather than as a celebrity or politician. The Associated Press quoted her saying, “I’m not here as a celebrity, I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother.” She also urged the audience to vote: “We must vote, and we need you.”
Why was reproductive rights central to the event?
Harris’s Houston rally highlighted reproductive rights and Texas abortion restrictions during the closing stretch of the 2024 presidential campaign. The Texas Tribune also placed the rally among Texas campaign events held on October 25. The event’s focus provides context for Beyoncé’s emphasis on bodily freedom and voting; this account does not make claims about the details of Texas law. Associated Press coverage and The Texas Tribune describe the event’s political context.

Harris’s campaign used Beyoncé’s song “Freedom,” from the 2016 album Lemonade, as an anthem. The Associated Press reported that a campaign official confirmed Beyoncé had given permission for its use. That permission report is attributed to the campaign source, not presented as a statement Beyoncé made at the rally.
What is known about the remarks and attendees?
The direct quotations here come from the Associated Press’s account. Roll Call’s Factbase transcript covers Harris’s remarks, not a complete transcript of Beyoncé’s speech. The available coverage establishes the central roles of Beyoncé and Harris, but does not establish a complete attendee roster.
