Talk about sex before the moment

Make consent clear and ongoing

Make safer sex part of the conversation
Before sex, discuss STI testing, protection, and any health information that may affect a partner’s choices. CDC advises talking with partners about testing and protection, and disclosing an STI even if you are taking medicine to treat it. A healthcare provider can help answer questions about testing, symptoms, contraception, and individual health concerns.
Condoms can reduce the risk of STIs, but they do not eliminate every risk. CDC recommends using condoms correctly for every act of vaginal, anal, and oral sex. Use lubricant if it helps with comfort
Lubricant reduces friction and may make sex more comfortable. With latex or polyisoprene condoms, choose water-based or silicone-based lubricant: oil-based products can weaken these materials.
