A UK-based OnlyFans creator known as Bunni said someone reused her photos, replaced her face with an AI-generated one and posted them on Reddit as a fictional Spanish teenager. She contacted Reddit moderators, who removed the impersonating account, according to a May 16, 2025, report by Futurism, which attributed the account to a Mashable interview.
What happened to Bunni’s photos?
Futurism reported that Bunni, then 25 and based in the UK, discovered that someone had taken her pictures, altered the face with AI and presented the resulting persona as “Sofía,” an alleged 19-year-old living in Spain. The account’s posts reportedly mixed everyday content, including outfits and a pet, with images shared on a pornographic subreddit.
The case was not simply an unfamiliar face attached to a stolen image: the altered photos were used to support a fabricated identity across different kinds of posts. Bunni described the experience as “a completely different way of doing it that I’ve not had happen to me before,” as quoted by Futurism from her Mashable interview.
How was the Reddit impersonation addressed?
Bunni said she contacted Reddit moderators directly and got the imposter removed. The report does not establish whether the account or images remain accessible elsewhere, or whether Reddit responded to Mashable; Futurism said the platform did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment.

There is no confirmed motive in the report. Bunni suspected the person might try to move conversations into direct messages to share a subscription link or ask for money, but the report does not establish that anyone solicited either.
What did Bunni say about AI image misuse and legal action?
Bunni said, “I can’t imagine I’m the first, and I’m definitely not the last, because this whole AI thing is kind of blowing out of proportion.” That is her concern, not a measure of how common this type of impersonation is; the incident report gives no prevalence statistic.

On taking legal action, Bunni said, “I don’t feel like it’s really worth it,” adding that the cost could be “just ridiculous” and that she thought she probably would not get far. Those are her personal views, not a legal assessment or a finding about what claims might be available.
What does UK law say about AI-generated intimate images?
The legal context has changed since the events described in the May 2025 report. Section 138 of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 inserted an offence concerning intentionally creating a purported intimate image of an adult without consent or a reasonable belief in consent. The section defines the relevant image and excludes certain modifications that do not add intimate content or another person. Read section 138 of the Act.

Section 99 of the Crime and Policing Act 2026 addresses making or supplying purported intimate image generators and includes a defence based on taking reasonable steps to prevent non-consensual use. The UK government’s factsheet, updated September 30, 2026, also describes measures requiring platforms to remove qualifying reported non-consensual intimate images within a specified period. Read the government factsheet.
These provisions do not establish what happened legally in Bunni’s case. The incident report contains no legal finding and does not describe the images in enough detail to determine whether statutory definitions apply. Nor does it establish that the newer provisions applied to the Reddit posts at the time. An AI face swap is not automatically covered simply because it uses someone else’s photo; application can depend on the image, the conduct and the law in force. Anyone seeking legal guidance should check commencement, territorial scope and current reporting routes with an authoritative UK source or qualified adviser.

What can you do if someone posts your pictures online?
Bunni’s reported response shows one practical first step: contact the platform’s moderators or reporting channel and identify the specific account and posts. The report does not provide a complete takedown guide, but a person facing a similar situation can take these steps:
- Preserve details before content disappears. Record the post and account URLs, usernames, dates and relevant screenshots, while avoiding further distribution of intimate material.
- Report the content through the platform. Explain that the image uses your likeness without permission and, where relevant, that it is intimate or part of an impersonation. Report individual posts as well as the account if the platform offers both options.
- Ask for removal and retain the report record. Keep copies of confirmation messages or case numbers, and follow up through the platform’s stated process if content remains available.
- Consider whether someone may be using the persona to contact or deceive others. The report did not confirm a solicitation in Bunni’s case, so treat requests for money or subscriptions as a possibility to assess, not an assumed motive.
- Get jurisdiction-specific help when the stakes are high. Rules differ by location and may depend on whether content is intimate, how it was created and how it was shared. A qualified legal adviser or relevant local support service can assess options.
Futurism’s report provides a documented account of one creator’s experience, not a ruling on liability or a complete picture of the images’ circulation. It illustrates how a manipulated face can be used to create a false online identity, while leaving important questions about motive, reach and legal remedies unresolved.
