A successful upload puts the files in cloud storage; it does not necessarily make them ready for smooth streaming. For adaptive on-demand playback, the platform may also need to encode and package them into streaming formats.
Choose a resumable upload route
For a 100 GB library already on a computer with a reliable internet connection, start with the destination provider’s supported command-line interface or transfer client. Resumable transfers can continue after interruptions instead of forcing you to send a large file again from the beginning. Google Cloud recommends resumable uploads for large files; its resumable-upload guidance says they avoid restarting from the beginning after a network failure. Google’s gcloud storage cp and gcloud storage rsync use resumable uploads, and the same command can be run again after an interruption. A resumable session can remain active for up to one week.
For Amazon S3, multipart upload splits an object into parts. If a part fails, it can be sent again without retransmitting the others. AWS recommends considering multipart uploads for objects around 100 MB or larger. See AWS’s multipart-upload documentation.
For a directory containing many files, a provider’s CLI or managed transfer client is usually the practical default: it can retry files or parts and retain completed work. Avoid sending the file data through an application server unless that server is deliberately part of your ingest design. Extra routing can add another bottleneck and failure point.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Prepare and run the transfer
- Choose the destination first. Select storage the intended streaming platform or CDN can use as an origin. Check the region, access permissions, geographic audience, and continuing storage and delivery costs. Google Media CDN, for example, documents support for Cloud Storage, other cloud object stores, and publicly reachable HTTP origins; see its storage-origin documentation.
- Inventory the source. Record expected file paths and, where practical, checksums before uploading. Keep the source intact until you have confirmed what arrived. A stable inventory makes it easier to identify missing or failed files.
- Use the provider’s supported resumable or multipart tool. For Google Cloud Storage, the current
gcloud storage cporgcloud storage rsynccommand is a straightforward route for ordinary copying. When resuming a multi-file upload, Google recommends--no-clobberto avoid re-uploading completed files. Follow the provider’s current authentication and destination syntax for your account and bucket. - Let retries finish and retain logs. Do not assume that a stalled progress indicator means the entire transfer failed. Check the client output for files that exhausted retries or were skipped; rerun the supported command as appropriate to resume outstanding work.
- Verify the ingest before cleanup. Compare object counts and total bytes against the inventory, review failed-file logs, and compare checksums where supported. AWS supports server-side validation when a full-object checksum is supplied with a multipart upload. Do not automatically treat a multipart ETag as an MD5 checksum.
- Test representative media. Open several files from the cloud origin, then test playback after any required processing step is complete. Do not delete the local library until the needed objects and playback checks have passed.
Estimate how long 100 GB will take
The main planning variable is sustained upload speed, not the speed advertised for a broadband plan. Use a real speed test or, preferably, measure a short transfer of representative files. Wi-Fi, other household traffic, disk-read speed, protocol overhead, and changing network conditions can all make the actual transfer slower.
Using decimal units, 100 GB is about 800 gigabits. The following are idealized arithmetic estimates before overhead, not measured provider performance or promised completion times:

| Sustained upload speed | Idealized time for 100 GB |
|---|---|
| 20 Mbps | About 11 hours 7 minutes |
| 100 Mbps | About 2 hours 13 minutes |
| 1 Gbps | About 13 minutes 20 seconds |
Actual time can be materially longer. A short trial with a representative mix of file sizes can help reveal whether the connection, source disk, or transfer client is limiting throughput. Refine the estimate using the observed sustained rate and the provider and route you have chosen.
Separate file upload from streaming preparation
A storage bucket holds source files; storage alone does not necessarily produce smooth adaptive playback. For a video-on-demand workflow, AWS describes encoding and packaging content into segments and manifests before CloudFront distributes it. Its typical setup uses S3 for storage, MediaConvert for file processing, and CloudFront for delivery. See AWS’s video-on-demand guidance. Google’s media workload documentation likewise describes video-on-demand content being fetched from Cloud Storage origins through a CDN.

- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- If the library is already prepared: confirm the target platform or streaming server accepts its existing codecs, containers, and packaging before paying to process it again.
- If you need adaptive streaming: identify the player’s supported formats, packaging and access-control requirements, viewer locations, and expected traffic before choosing processing and delivery services.
- If you only need an archive or direct downloads: a full encoding, packaging, and CDN pipeline may be unnecessary.
Compare the full cost and decide whether managed transfer is justified
Do not compare storage price alone. Depending on the setup, the lifecycle cost can include storage class and region, upload requests, a transfer service, transcoding, CDN delivery, and egress. Google lists per-GB pricing for on-premises transfers with Storage Transfer Service; check current service pricing for your route and region, and estimate delivery costs for your expected viewing traffic.
For a 100 GB library on a computer with a reliable internet connection, a resumable internet upload is a reasonable starting point. A managed transfer service can be useful for recurring pipelines, movement between storage systems, or workflows requiring centralized control. Google describes Storage Transfer Service as a way to move data among cloud and on-premises storage systems; confirm that it supports your particular route and review its applicable charges.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
A physical transfer device is not inherently necessary for this case. Consider moving data physically only if the measured internet route is impractical, the source is already on removable media that must be staged, or a provider offers a suitable service for your region and volume. Verify availability, destination support, lead time, and total cost before depending on it.

If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel from pre-recorded videos rather than an on-demand library for viewers, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It streams to YouTube only and is not a substitute for an adaptive video-on-demand pipeline.
