For a hands-off rotation of prerecorded gaming videos, use a cloud streaming service with playlist playout. YouTube’s own webcam and encoder workflows do not document a native feature for automatically rotating a playlist of VODs. A cloud service can queue the videos and send the broadcast without OBS or a computer running at home.
Choose the right kind of broadcast
First decide whether you want one scheduled broadcast containing several videos, or a channel that keeps looping videos continuously. Those are different jobs: playlist streaming sequences files for a broadcast, while a 24/7 mode keeps the channel live on an ongoing basis. Check the service’s current plan, scheduling limits, and archive behavior against that goal before uploading.

- Confirm channel eligibility. Verify your YouTube channel and check that it has not had a live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. YouTube states that the minimum age for livestreaming is 16.
- Choose finite playlist or continuous mode. For a scheduled run of selected VODs, use the playlist feature. For a continuously looping YouTube channel, OneStream Live documents a separate 24/7 option, which requires Enterprise and allows a scheduled run of up to 30 days.
- Upload or select the video files. The provider’s playlist instructions allow videos to be selected from your device, its storage, or cloud storage.
- Arrange the playlist. Put the VODs in the order you want them to play, then select YouTube as the destination and enter the broadcast details.
- Schedule and check options. OneStream Live’s advanced scheduling documentation says YouTube DVR and channel-supported monetization are available as options, and that advanced scheduling is available on Standard or higher. Since those options and playlist/24/7 tiers differ across the provider’s documentation, confirm the exact combination in your account before paying.
- Review replay expectations. YouTube’s webcam and encoder guides state that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Those guides do not establish what happens to streams longer than 12 hours, so do not assume a long-running broadcast will be saved as one replay.

Copyright and channel considerations
A VOD being prerecorded does not by itself establish that you have permission to rebroadcast it. Use gameplay footage and audio you own or are authorized to stream, and check the relevant game publisher’s policies and rights for music, overlays, guest content, and other included material. YouTube’s live-stream eligibility rules are separate from copyright permission: meeting the eligibility requirements does not grant rights to rebroadcast content.

Troubleshooting a VOD rotation
- The channel cannot go live: Check verification, the channel’s recent live-streaming restriction status, and age eligibility against YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- The playlist option is unavailable: Check whether the account has a plan that includes playlist streaming. OneStream Live lists Professional and Enterprise for playlists; its separate 24/7 YouTube feature requires Enterprise.
- The playlist does not run continuously: A finite playlist broadcast is not the same as an always-on loop. Confirm that the service and plan support continuous streaming, and check any maximum scheduled run.
- You expect a replay but cannot find one: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived in its webcam and encoder guidance. The cited guidance does not confirm the archive outcome for longer streams.
- You are trying to avoid OBS but still need playout: YouTube’s encoder workflow still requires a feed from an encoder or another source. Use a cloud playlist service if you do not want a local computer to provide the video feed.
Compare services against the actual job
Before choosing a route, check whether it can sequence existing files, whether it supports a finite playlist or an always-on loop, which plan includes the needed feature, how long a scheduled run may last, what happens to archives, and whether you need to manage a local playout source. For API-based setups, also account for the software or service that must provide and transmit the video; the API alone is not a file player.
