There is no universally best day or hour that YouTube says will increase a video’s long-term views. For a regular upload, check when your own viewers are active in YouTube Studio and treat that report as context—not a promise of more views. Timing may help with early viewership, and it matters more directly when scheduling a Premiere or planning a live stream.
Does posting time affect YouTube views?
YouTube says publish time is “not known to impact a video’s long-term performance.” Its recommendation system aims to find videos for viewers when they visit YouTube, rather than simply pushing a new upload to a channel’s audience. That means a peak hour is not a substitute for a video that is relevant to viewers and performs well with them.
Timing may still help with early viewership: YouTube says publishing when your audience is most active can be beneficial early on, while the effect on long-term viewership is not known. This is guidance, not a guarantee or a controlled result for every channel, audience, and format.
Find when your own viewers are on YouTube
- Open YouTube Studio.
- Select Analytics, then the Audience tab.
- Find When your viewers are on YouTube. The report shows when your viewers were online across YouTube during the last 28 days.
- Look for recurring active periods, taking your viewers’ time zones and the format of your video into account.
The report describes audience activity across YouTube; it does not mean every active viewer will see your upload. Some Audience data may also be limited, so the report may not provide a clear answer for every channel.

Choose a time based on the kind of video
Regular uploads
Use the Audience report as one input, then choose a release time you can maintain. YouTube does not identify a universal peak hour or require you to publish a set number of hours before an active period. If you want to compare release windows, compare similar videos over time and interpret results cautiously: topic, format, title, thumbnail, and promotion can also affect how a video performs.
Premieres and live streams
YouTube specifically points to the activity report as useful when scheduling a Premiere or planning a live stream. In those cases, choose a time when the intended audience is likely to be available to watch together. The report remains a planning aid, not a guarantee of attendance or reach.

Should you post daily or follow a fixed schedule?
YouTube says growth in views across uploads is not correlated with the time between uploads. It encourages creators to use a sustainable, quality-focused schedule, rather than treating daily, weekly, weekend, or other fixed posting rules as requirements for views. A consistent schedule can help you plan production and give viewers expectations, but the available guidance does not establish a magic posting frequency.
What to do if the report does not help
- Little or no activity data: Some Audience data can be limited. Choose a manageable schedule and revisit the report as your channel collects more data.
- Several active periods: Select one that fits the topic and format, and that you can reliably meet; do not assume the single darkest or busiest period guarantees better performance.
- Viewers in multiple time zones: Consider which audience you most want to reach with an early viewing window. The report shows activity, not a promise that all regions will be served at once.
- A video underperforms despite a peak-time release: Do not conclude that the clock time alone caused it. YouTube’s guidance emphasizes audience and video-level relevance and performance, and timing is not known to determine long-term results.
Keeping a YouTube live stream running
If your plan is to run a pre-recorded video as a continuous YouTube live stream, the scheduling question is only one part of the workflow: the stream also has to stay connected. StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist looping to YouTube from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to remain on. It is one option for continuous streams, not a way to improve a regular upload’s recommendation performance.
