For prerecorded lessons that need to play continuously on YouTube, start with a cloud service built for 24/7 video playback. StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs uploaded videos from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and gives new accounts one free day. Gyre and Upstream also appear in YouTube’s encoder directory as cloud options; OneStream Live documents scheduled 24/7 YouTube playlists, but requires Enterprise and limits each schedule to 30 days.
If you mean a real teacher-led class, screen demonstration, or multi-camera lesson, choose an encoder workflow instead. The right fit depends first on whether the stream is prerecorded or genuinely live, then on unattended operation, archive needs, production requirements, and plan limits.
Choose the platform for the kind of lesson you are streaming
A continuous prerecorded channel and a live classroom are different workflows. A prerecorded channel loops uploaded lessons without a presenter being captured in real time. A live class needs an encoder or other live-streaming method to send current camera, microphone, screen, or production output.
- Prerecorded lesson library: Compare cloud services that schedule or loop uploaded video. Check schedule limits and how the service behaves if a stream is interrupted.
- Live teaching or demonstrations: Use a YouTube-supported webcam or encoder route. YouTube says encoders can use external audio/video hardware and support advanced productions such as multiple cameras and microphones.
- Replay is important: Plan archives separately from the continuous live feed. The Restream Help Center says YouTube archives only streams shorter than 12 hours; verify current behavior in YouTube Studio before launch.
- Multiple platforms are essential: A multistream relay may be relevant, but check its restart behavior and whether the exact plan supports your workflow.
YouTube’s official documentation lists encoder options at its live-streaming methods guide and identifies cloud tools in its encoder directory. The directory entries describe publishers’ products; they are not independent performance tests.

Gyre and Upstream: directory-listed cloud options
YouTube lists Gyre for continuous prerecorded streams and Upstream as a cloud studio for 24/7 streaming. These listings establish that each vendor describes a relevant workflow, but they do not establish which service is more reliable or better for a particular channel. Confirm current features, plan limits, pricing, and availability directly with the provider before choosing.

OneStream’s Help Center describes choosing videos from a device, its storage, or cloud storage, then scheduling the broadcast and setting its duration in days. The documented 30-day maximum means it is a scheduled run, not an indefinitely open schedule; plan for renewal or a new schedule before the current one ends.
Restream: consider it when distribution matters more than unattended looping
Restream’s Help Center says it does not set a stream-duration limit, but its server may undergo maintenance and restart when a stream has run continuously for more than 24 hours; it recommends a daily restart. That caveat matters for an unattended educational channel. Its YouTube archive note is also relevant if viewers need a replay, since the cited page says streams must be shorter than 12 hours to be archived.

For a live class, use YouTube’s encoder workflow
A cloud looping service is not a substitute for capturing a presenter in real time. If the lesson involves live speech, a document camera, screen sharing, or several inputs, use a supported live method and keep the encoder device and network available throughout the class. YouTube’s encoder documentation explains the available setup and production options at YouTube Help.
Meet YouTube’s channel requirements first
- The channel must be verified.
- It must have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- The person streaming must be at least 16 years old.
- For an encoder workflow, enable live streaming for the channel before configuring an external service. Restream’s YouTube setup article also notes this prerequisite: Restream Help.
Set encoder output for a tested connection
YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance covers RTMP/RTMPS, H.264/H.265/AV1, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends RTMPS because it encrypts stream data through Google’s servers. Select the bitrate for the intended resolution, frame rate, and codec in YouTube’s encoder settings; there is no single bitrate that fits every output.
Recommended Free Tools
For one concrete example from YouTube’s table, its current guidance recommends 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps using AV1 or H.265, and 14 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps using H.264. These are recommended encoder bitrates, not a guarantee that a particular internet connection will sustain them. Test the actual upload connection with the intended output and leave capacity for normal network variation.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Choose output: Set the resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate to match the lesson and a tested upload capacity.
- Configure stability settings: Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval as YouTube recommends; use RTMPS where available.
- Connect the encoder: In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream and copy its stream key into the encoder’s streaming destination settings. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with students.
- Run a representative test: Check voice clarity, screen text, motion, and synchronization using the same cameras, microphones, and network planned for class.
- Monitor stream health: Watch YouTube’s stream health indicators during the broadcast and address warnings before relying on the setup for a long session.
Keep the archive plan separate
A continuous live feed may not produce the replay experience students expect. The Restream Help Center’s cited guidance says YouTube archives streams shorter than 12 hours. Because YouTube behavior can change, confirm current archiving behavior in Studio and consider publishing individual lesson videos or using shorter scheduled broadcasts when dependable replay access matters.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Copyright and educational-use checks
Educational purpose alone does not automatically establish permission to stream every video, soundtrack, image, or excerpt in a lesson. Before making a lesson stream public, confirm that you own the material or have a license or other valid basis to use it on YouTube. A live or looped format does not remove copyright obligations. Review StreamNeo’s copyright safety checklist as a practical preflight, and consult YouTube’s current policies for your specific content and jurisdiction.
Test the setup and troubleshoot likely failures
- You cannot start streaming: Check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, and there has been no restriction in the previous 90 days. Confirm the streamer meets YouTube’s age requirement.
- The encoder reports dropped frames or unstable health: The bitrate may exceed reliable upload capacity, or the connection may fluctuate. Test at the intended quality, lower the bitrate or output if needed, and monitor stream health rather than relying on a speed-test headline alone.
- YouTube receives no video or audio: Confirm the correct stream key and destination are configured, the encoder is sending the selected codec and resolution, and the intended audio input is active. Regenerate or replace a compromised stream key.
- Text is hard to read or motion looks poor: Test representative slides and movement at the intended resolution and frame rate. Adjust the output and bitrate together, then check the result on the connection and devices your students are likely to use.
- A scheduled loop ends unexpectedly: Check the service’s schedule cap and plan limits. OneStream documents a maximum 30-day duration for a 24/7 schedule; Restream warns of possible maintenance restarts after more than 24 continuous hours.
- A replay is missing: Check the broadcast length and current YouTube archive behavior. The cited Restream guidance says only streams shorter than 12 hours are archived by YouTube; a continuous feed may therefore need a separate lesson-upload or shorter-session plan.
Costs and what to verify before committing
Among the compared services, the cited material establishes OneStream’s Enterprise requirement for 24/7 YouTube streaming but does not state a current price. The available YouTube directory entries for Gyre and Upstream do not state pricing. Restream pricing is not established here. Do not infer that directory listing or a feature description guarantees a particular plan, region, uptime commitment, or service level; confirm those details with the provider before purchase.
