Intel specifies the N100 at 6 W TDP; that is the processor’s thermal design power, not the power a complete mini PC draws from the wall. No model-specific, 24/7 YouTube streaming test or comparable whole-PC power measurement is established here. Before buying, verify the exact machine’s measured idle and streaming power, cooling, connections, and recovery behavior.

What makes a low-power PC suitable for a nonstop store promo?
A single prerecorded video looping as a YouTube Live stream is a relatively modest workload compared with a multi-camera production, layered effects, capture devices, or simultaneous local recording. That makes a small PC a reasonable option, but the processor name alone cannot establish that a system will stay cool, use little electricity, or recover reliably during continuous operation.
Think of the decision as two parts: the computer must encode and send the video, and the complete setup must keep doing so despite heat, network trouble, or a power interruption. YouTube documents encoder settings and operational checks, but does not certify a minimum PC model for this workload.

Is an Intel N100 mini PC the best low-power PC?
Intel lists the Processor N100 with four cores and four threads, a maximum turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz, Intel UHD Graphics, Intel Quick Sync Video, and a maximum memory size of 16 GB. Intel specifies a 6 W TDP. These are processor specifications, not a test of a complete mini PC or a promise of its wall-power consumption, noise, thermal performance, or 24/7 reliability. For a single looping promo, an N100 mini PC is a sensible search starting point because the workload is relatively simple. Do not buy a particular model on that basis alone: results depend on its motherboard, power supply, cooling, memory, storage, network hardware, and encoder software. The N100’s Quick Sync listing also does not by itself confirm support for every codec, resolution, and frame rate you plan to use; check the exact system and software combination.

What to check before choosing a specific mini PC
- Measured whole-system power: Look for idle and encoding measurements of the complete model, ideally under a workload close to your intended stream. Processor TDP is not an estimate of the PC’s wall draw. If published measurements are unavailable, measure the unit yourself before committing it to continuous use.
- Sustained cooling and noise: Check whether the model has credible evidence of stable operation under a continuous load and whether fan noise is acceptable where it will be installed. A brief benchmark does not establish round-the-clock behavior.
- Encoder support: Confirm that the exact CPU or GPU and chosen encoder software support your intended codec, resolution, and frame rate through hardware encoding if that is your plan.
- Network connection: Prefer a suitable wired Ethernet connection when available. Confirm the PC has the required Ethernet port, or check whether an adapter is needed. Your upload capacity must support the stream with headroom.
- Ports and display setup: Check the video outputs needed to configure the machine and the USB ports needed for peripherals or external storage. Requirements depend on your setup; a display need not remain attached if the chosen configuration does not require one.
- Memory and storage: Confirm included RAM and storage, upgradeability, and whether you need local space for the video file, operating system, or an archive. If local recording is part of the plan, account for its extra storage and workload.
- Support and recovery: Review warranty and support terms, and find out how the PC behaves after power returns or the network reconnects. A way to restart the encoder and restore the stream matters for unattended operation.
There is no universal wattage answer to “How much power does an always-on streaming PC use?” It depends on the exact complete system and what it is doing; compare measured power for the model rather than inferring it from the processor’s TDP.
Encoder settings for a prerecorded YouTube Live promo
YouTube’s encoder guidance names RTMP and RTMPS ingestion and lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video codecs. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, with a warning not to exceed four seconds. These are YouTube’s recommended bitrates for the listed formats, not a requirement to choose the highest resolution. Pick a target that suits the promo footage, the encoder’s supported output, and your upload connection. A simple store loop may not benefit from increasing resolution if viewers cannot see a meaningful improvement or the network cannot sustain the added bitrate.
Prepare the PC and verify the stream before leaving it unattended
- Check the channel and stream setup. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions. Copy the stream key into the encoder you choose; treat it as private, because someone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream. - Set the source and output deliberately. Load the promo file or configure the playback method, choose an output resolution and frame rate, select a supported codec, use CBR, and set a two-second keyframe interval. Set bitrate to a suitable YouTube recommendation or other practical target for the chosen output and connection.
- Test upload capacity. YouTube Help says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.” Compare available upload bandwidth with the stream’s total bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom; that is guidance, not a guarantee that the connection will remain available.
- Run a test and inspect the preview. Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before relying on the setup. Watch for buffering, dropped frames, or other quality warnings, and allow time to correct settings.
- Check continuity and recovery. Confirm the video loops as intended and that the encoder and PC can resume after a restart or network interruption. Do not assume a successful short test proves uninterrupted operation; monitor the stream after launch.
Costs and trade-offs: local PC or cloud streaming?
A local mini PC means buying and maintaining hardware and using electricity while it runs. Its energy cost depends on the complete system’s measured consumption, your electricity rate, and how long it operates; the N100’s 6 W processor TDP cannot supply that estimate. A small UPS may be useful if brief power interruptions are a concern, while Ethernet, an adapter, or external storage is only needed if your ports, network path, or archive plan call for it.

A cloud service shifts the continuous playback and encoding away from a dedicated PC at the store, but introduces dependence on the service and its terms. YouTube’s encoder page identifies Gyre as a cloud option for continuous prerecorded streaming, but current pricing, eligibility, and suitability for this particular store-promo workflow are not established here. Check the provider’s current terms directly before choosing it.
