The Beelink Mini S12 Pro with Intel N100 is a reasonable low-cost candidate to test for a simple, prerecorded nature-ambience stream—not a proven 24/7 winner. Beelink lists a configuration with 16 GB of memory and a 500 GB SSD, and Intel lists Quick Sync Video support for the N100. Neither specification establishes how the complete mini PC will perform in your OBS setup over long periods. If your channel only needs to loop uploaded videos, a cloud service may be a better fit than keeping a PC at home; if you need a live camera, capture device, or custom OBS scene, you need a local live-production setup.
Which low-cost mini PC is worth considering?
Beelink Mini S12 Pro with Intel N100
Beelink’s product page lists an N100 configuration with 16 GB DDR4 memory, a 500 GB SSD, gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi 6, and a fan-and-heatsink design it describes as ultra-quiet. These are manufacturer-listed details, not independent performance or reliability tests. The product page may not reflect the current bundle in every region, so check the exact memory, storage, operating system, warranty, seller, and price before buying.
Intel’s N100 specifications list four cores and four threads, turbo frequency up to 3.40 GHz, 6 MB cache, Intel UHD Graphics with 24 execution units, Quick Sync Video, and a 6 W TDP. Intel also lists a maximum memory size of 16 GB. The 6 W figure is the processor’s TDP—not a measurement of the whole mini PC’s electricity use. None of these specifications is an OBS streaming benchmark or proof of sustained operation.
That distinction matters for an always-on channel. OBS says compatible hardware does not guarantee the system can stream or record successfully; its CPU requirements vary with encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. A static prerecorded loop may be less demanding than a scene with multiple browser sources, filters, capture devices, and simultaneous local recording, but only a test of your actual setup can establish whether it is suitable.

First decide whether you need a mini PC
“24/7 stream” can mean two different jobs. A live camera, capture card, or OBS production must be encoded and sent to YouTube by a live encoder such as a local PC. A channel that only needs to play prerecorded videos in a loop does not necessarily need a computer running at home: a cloud-looping service can perform that narrower task. These approaches are not interchangeable; a prerecorded-video loop is not a live camera feed or a substitute for a complex OBS production.
- Choose a local mini PC if you need a camera or capture device, custom OBS overlays or filters, or local control of the live production.
- Consider cloud looping if the stream is made from videos you have uploaded and you want playback to continue without leaving a home computer running.
Check the whole setup, not just the processor
Match the OBS workload to the machine
Before purchase, list the intended output resolution and frame rate, encoder, sources, filters, and whether you will record locally at the same time. Intel lists Quick Sync Video for the N100, so hardware encoding is a capability to check in your operating system, graphics drivers, and OBS version—not a guarantee that OBS will expose or use it correctly. Confirm the selected encoder in OBS and test the complete scene.

Set YouTube output deliberately
YouTube’s live-encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, CBR bitrate encoding, and recommends RTMPS. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds. For H.264 at 1080p and 60 fps, its guidance lists a recommended bitrate of 17 Mbps. That figure applies to that codec and output mode; consult YouTube’s current bitrate guidance for other resolutions, frame rates, and codecs rather than applying it universally.
- Choose a resolution and frame rate that match the footage and your upload connection. Higher output settings require more sustained upload capacity.
- Use CBR and set the keyframe interval to two seconds, subject to YouTube’s current guidance for the selected encoder.
- Use RTMPS where supported by your encoder and YouTube’s stream configuration.
- Keep the stream key private. In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream, copy its stream key, and enter it only in the encoder’s stream settings. Do not publish it, show it in a tutorial, or send it to anyone who does not need access.
Plan for network and unattended operation
Use wired gigabit LAN if practical, and verify that your internet connection can sustain the chosen upload bitrate with headroom. A speed-test result is only a snapshot; YouTube recommends testing the connection and monitoring stream health. Think through what happens after a power cut, Windows or OBS restart, lost internet, or YouTube disconnect. A UPS may help bridge a short power interruption, but it does not fix an extended outage or automatically prove that the stream will recover.

Test before relying on the stream
- Install and update the machine. Set up the operating system, network drivers, graphics drivers, and OBS. Confirm the system is stable before adding unattended operation.
- Build the real scene. Use the same video sources, overlays, filters, audio, output resolution, frame rate, and encoder you intend to use. If you plan to record locally, test recording and streaming together.
- Configure YouTube and OBS. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain its stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream to select YouTube and enter the key; open Settings > Output to set the encoder, CBR bitrate, and keyframe interval; open Settings > Video to set the output resolution and FPS. Exact labels can vary by OBS version.
- Run a representative test. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the planned broadcast. Let the actual loop or scene run, inspect OBS for dropped frames or overload, and check YouTube’s stream-health messages while it is live.
- Test recovery, not just encoding. Deliberately check how your setup behaves after an OBS restart, a computer reboot, and a temporary network interruption. Verify whether the encoder resumes and whether YouTube receives a healthy stream afterward. A short successful test cannot predict months of unattended operation.
- Measure costs and conditions. If electricity cost matters, measure whole-system wall power with a plug-in meter under the intended workload and apply your local electricity rate. Do not use the processor’s 6 W TDP as the mini PC’s consumption. Check noise and cooling in the place where the machine will run.
Common problems and what to check
- OBS overload or skipped frames: Reduce resolution or FPS, simplify filters and browser sources, stop unneeded local recording, and confirm the hardware encoder is available and selected. A compatible processor alone does not establish adequate performance.
- Network dropped frames or unstable stream health: Prefer wired LAN, check upload stability during the broadcast, lower the bitrate or output setting if the connection cannot sustain it, and review YouTube’s stream-health messages.
- Encoder unavailable or unexpectedly using the CPU: Check graphics drivers and OBS encoder options for the installed operating system. Verify actual encoder selection instead of assuming Quick Sync is active because the processor supports it.
- Stream stops after a reboot or disconnect: Test startup and reconnection behavior in advance. Configure the computer and encoder for the intended restart workflow, and verify that the stream is actually live again after recovery rather than assuming an automatic resume.
- Heat, fan noise, or unexpected power use: Keep vents clear, allow airflow, and observe the system under the real scene for an extended test. Measure wall power if you need an energy-cost estimate.
- Copyright or monetization concerns: Use footage and audio you own or are licensed to use for this purpose, and retain permission records. A technically stable loop does not ensure that a channel complies with YouTube’s copyright or monetization rules; repetitive or reused material can raise separate policy questions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your nature ambience stream consists of prerecorded videos you have uploaded—not a live camera feed or a complex OBS production—StreamNeo is an alternative to leaving a mini PC running. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops it from the cloud. Nothing has to stay on at home, it streams uploaded files as made up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
