Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor a hands-off 24/7 YouTube loop, StreamNeo is the simplest managed option to try first: upload your video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream. It runs from the cloud, supports your uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day without a card. If you are comfortable administering Linux, a small VPS can cost less in subscription fees—but you must configure, monitor, and recover the streaming process yourself.
There is no universal cheapest choice. The right comparison is the full recurring cost at your actual bitrate, including transfer overages, alongside setup effort, storage and recovery features. Prices and plan terms below were checked on provider pages on October 3, 2026; verify current availability and terms before subscribing.
Which cloud option should you choose?
| Option | Published cost or terms | Best fit | Important checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo — managed YouTube prerecorded streaming | One flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps; 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across active slots. The first day is free without a card. See StreamNeo pricing for the current selectable terms. | You want to upload a recording or playlist and keep it looping from the cloud without leaving a computer running. | It streams uploaded videos to YouTube only; it does not stream from a camera. Check that your source files fit the available pooled storage. |
| Amazon Lightsail — self-managed VPS | AWS lists Linux/Unix bundles at $5/month (0.5 GB RAM, 1 TB transfer), $7/month (1 GB RAM, 2 TB), and $12/month (2 GB RAM, 3 TB). Inbound and outbound transfer count toward the allowance; excess outbound transfer is chargeable. | You can administer Linux and want to manage your own playback or relay process. | Check region and plan availability, transfer accounting, current price, and how you will monitor and restart the process. The listed plans do not establish encoding performance. AWS Lightsail pricing. |
| Google Cloud Live Stream API — managed streaming infrastructure | Active channels are billed by time, rounded to the nearest minute after a ten-minute minimum. Cost depends on input/output resolution and codec; each distribution stream adds another output. | You need a managed ingest, encoding, and distribution workflow and can calculate the complete configuration. | Estimate a continuously active channel, output, codec, and region. The published pricing does not establish it as a low-cost choice for one YouTube destination. Google Cloud Live Stream API pricing. |
| DigitalOcean infrastructure — self-managed cloud | The official streaming overview describes Droplets and related infrastructure but does not give a directly comparable fixed plan for this exact workload. | You already use its cloud ecosystem or need broader infrastructure. | Calculate the current Droplet price, transfer allowance and overages, region, and performance for your workload. DigitalOcean video streaming overview. |
| Other managed prerecorded-stream services | Upstream advertises 24 hours per month on its free plan; YTStream lists $19/month per 1080p stream; Looping Stream describes a trial of 24 hours total over seven days. These are provider-listed terms, not independently verified. | You prefer a dashboard and provider-managed playback or reconnect workflow over server administration. | Confirm current resolution, storage, stream-hour, concurrency, cancellation, and retention terms; treat uptime and recovery statements as vendor claims. Upstream, YTStream, Looping Stream. |
Practical ranking: StreamNeo comes first for a creator whose priority is an always-on prerecorded YouTube stream without home-server maintenance: it runs from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and includes a free first day. Lightsail is a plausible low-cost DIY candidate when the bitrate fits its transfer allowance and you can manage the server. The other managed and infrastructure services have different billing models; the available published information does not support naming one universal cheapest provider.
Estimate the real cost before choosing a VPS
Your stream sends data continuously from the cloud server to YouTube. Estimate transfer from the video bitrate, not from the number of people watching: YouTube transcodes and distributes the stream to viewers. The following are decimal-terabyte calculations for a 30-day month, before protocol overhead, based on YouTube’s recommended H.264 ingest rates:

| Stream setting | Estimated outbound data for 30 days | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 at 5 Mbps | About 1.62 TB | 5 Mbps Ă— 2,592,000 seconds Ă· 8; arithmetic estimate, not a provider measurement. |
| 1080p60 at 14 Mbps | About 4.54 TB | 14 Mbps Ă— 2,592,000 seconds Ă· 8; arithmetic estimate, not a provider measurement. |
AWS’s listed $7/month Lightsail bundle includes 2 TB of transfer, with inbound and outbound transfer counted. That appears to leave limited margin for a continuous 5 Mbps feed, and it is below the estimate for a 14 Mbps feed. Audio, protocol overhead, reconnects, actual output bitrate, and provider accounting may change the total. Check the exact plan’s transfer definitions and your encoder’s output before relying on an allowance.
Also distinguish playback from encoding. Sending a finished, pre-encoded file onward or relaying an existing stream is a different workload from transcoding video in real time. The listed CPU and memory specifications alone do not establish which VPS size can encode your material reliably; test your actual workload rather than assuming a particular vCPU or RAM count is enough.

DIY option: run a prerecorded stream from a VPS
A VPS keeps the streaming process off your home computer, but it does not manage itself. You need a server, a way to play or relay the encoded video continuously, a process supervisor or equivalent restart plan, and monitoring. Exact setup commands depend on your operating system, media workflow, and streaming software; the sources available here do not establish a universal command or VPS size. Use this checklist to plan a dependable setup:
- Choose a server and region. Compare the full monthly plan price and transfer allowance with the bitrate calculation above. Check that the plan is available in your region and that its transfer rules cover continuous outbound traffic to YouTube.
- Prepare a compatible source. For a simple loop, use a finished encoded file and verify its video and audio play correctly from beginning to end. Playback/relay is not the same as real-time transcoding; if you plan to encode or transcode on the VPS, test that workload on the actual plan.
- Enable YouTube live streaming and create the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, set up the live stream and copy its server URL and stream key into your cloud streaming setup. Keep the key private: do not expose it in screenshots, public configuration, or logs. YouTube’s setup guidance is at Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Set the ingest format. YouTube recommends RTMPS, H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval, which should not exceed four seconds. Its recommended H.264 bitrate is 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 14 Mbps for 1080p60. Match settings to your source and connection rather than increasing bitrate without checking transfer costs. See Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- Start with a private or unlisted test. Confirm that YouTube receives the feed, audio and video are correct, and stream health is acceptable before making the broadcast public. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health; see its live stream troubleshooting guidance.
- Make it recoverable. Configure process supervision or another restart mechanism for the playback process, and monitor both the process and YouTube’s stream health. A process restart does not prove that YouTube has resumed receiving the stream; verify recovery rather than assuming it.
- Plan for archive limits. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If the replay matters, preserve the source independently and plan shorter broadcast segments where your workflow permits. See Archive live streams.

Cloud hosting does not change YouTube’s rules or grant rights to material. Before looping a documentary, music, or other recording, make sure you have the rights or permission needed for both the content and the way you plan to use it. A live stream that runs continuously also does not guarantee monetization or a successful archive. Review YouTube’s current policies for your channel and content, and keep proof of licenses or permissions where applicable. StreamNeo’s free copyright safety checklist can help you review the basics.

Common problems and what to check
| Symptom | Likely checks and next steps |
|---|---|
| Stream stops or YouTube shows no incoming feed | Check the playback process and server connection, confirm the server URL and stream key, and inspect YouTube stream health. If the process stopped, use your supervisor or restart plan; then verify that YouTube receives the feed again. |
| Transfer allowance runs out or extra charges appear | Recalculate using the actual outgoing bitrate and billing period. Check whether the provider counts inbound traffic, outbound traffic, or both and how it prices excess transfer. Reduce bitrate only if the resulting quality remains suitable for your source and audience. |
| Video stutters or stream health is poor | Check the actual output bitrate, CBR setting, keyframe interval, and connection to YouTube ingest. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Test the full setup before relying on it for a long broadcast. |
| VPS cannot keep up with encoding | Separate encoding from simple file playback or relay. Test the real-time encoding workload on the intended plan; listed memory and CPU specifications are not a performance benchmark. |
| Long stream has no replay | YouTube warns that a stream over 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep an independent source or recording and use shorter broadcast segments where practical. |
| Source video is blocked, claimed, or unsuitable for monetization | Check the rights and YouTube policy implications for the specific material and use. Cloud hosting does not resolve copyright or reused-content issues. |
