For a company event that needs YouTube simulcasting, Vimeo and StreamYard are two documented options—but neither is a universal best. Vimeo documents direct YouTube integration and RTMP setup, alongside published event limits that teams should confirm before contracting. StreamYard lists YouTube as a native destination and supports custom RTMP, with plan eligibility and destination-specific feature limits to check. Choose by event controls, production workflow, organization eligibility, and the scale and duration your broadcast requires.
Check YouTube eligibility before choosing a platform
A third-party service cannot bypass YouTube channel requirements. YouTube says a channel needs to be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Its listed ways to go live include mobile, webcam, encoder, and console workflows. Confirm the channel is eligible before building the event plan around any streaming vendor.
For a corporate production using an external encoder, a camera and a supported encoder are part of that workflow. They are not a requirement for every broadcast: YouTube also lists webcam and other streaming methods.
Compare the documented platform options
| Platform | YouTube setup | Other destinations | Event scale and duration | Organization and workflow checks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vimeo | Direct YouTube account connection or custom RTMP using YouTube’s stream URL and key. Vimeo says YouTube simulcasting requires Advanced or Premium, or Enterprise with Events added. | Vimeo documents up to 10 integrated destinations and up to 20 custom RTMP destinations for simulcasting. Confirm current availability and limits with Vimeo. | Vimeo’s live-event FAQ lists Advanced at up to two simultaneous streams, Premium at up to three, and Enterprise at up to three, with add-on options. Each listed stream has a 12-hour limit. Vimeo also describes thousands of concurrent viewers subject to a 2 TB monthly bandwidth policy; these are vendor-published limits, not independent performance results. | Check the plan and contract against the event’s destination count, stream concurrency, duration, and bandwidth needs. Vimeo’s external-encoder workflow involves a camera connected to a supported encoder. |
| StreamYard | YouTube is listed as a native destination. StreamYard also supports custom RTMP destinations, though some features are limited for those destinations. | Additional destinations depend on the available native integrations or custom RTMP workflow; the cited documentation does not establish a comparable numeric destination limit. | Not stated in the cited documentation. | StreamYard’s plan policy says large organizations must use Enterprise rather than Business. Confirm eligibility and the features available for each destination during procurement. |
These are documented capabilities, not a complete market-wide ranking or a head-to-head performance test. Plan names, features, and limits can change, so confirm them with each vendor before purchase.

Choose based on the production your team actually runs
Choose Vimeo when its event controls and destination setup fit
Vimeo documents two ways to send a Vimeo event to YouTube: connect the YouTube account directly, or configure YouTube as an RTMP destination with its stream URL and key. Its stated simulcasting eligibility and event limits make plan verification especially important if the broadcast needs several simultaneous streams, runs longer than 12 hours, or targets many destinations.
Choose StreamYard when its destination workflow and plan eligibility fit
StreamYard lists YouTube as a native destination and offers custom RTMP for other endpoints. Check whether the features your production needs work with the chosen destination type, and verify that your organization qualifies for the intended plan. Large organizations are directed to Enterprise rather than Business under StreamYard’s stated policy.

Use an external encoder only if the production needs one
An encoder-based workflow can be appropriate when the production setup calls for a camera connected to supported encoding equipment. It adds equipment and configuration to the event workflow; it is not automatically necessary for a corporate YouTube broadcast. Decide whether the production team needs browser-based production or external-encoder support before selecting a service.
Plan the event around limits, not headline capacity
- Duration: Compare the expected program length with the vendor’s per-stream limit and determine what happens if the event overruns.
- Concurrency: Count how many streams must run at the same time, including parallel sessions, rather than counting only total events.
- Destinations: Identify whether each endpoint is a native integration or custom RTMP, and verify feature differences for RTMP destinations.
- Audience scale: Ask the vendor how its published bandwidth policy applies to your expected audience and event schedule. Vimeo’s cited 2 TB monthly policy is a vendor policy, not an audience guarantee.
- Procurement: Confirm current plan eligibility, add-ons, destination allowances, and contract terms directly. Cross-vendor prices are not established here.
