It runs from the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers the first day free. Castr is a well-documented choice for scheduling a varied continuous lineup; Gyre focuses on continuous prerecorded streams. TVU Channel is aimed at broader broadcast workflows, while AWS Elemental MediaLive is a configurable encoding service, not a turnkey small-channel playout system.
What a small storytelling channel needs from cloud playout
Cloud playout keeps a scheduled lineup of prerecorded videos playing as a live feed without relying on a computer in your home to transmit it. For a children’s storytelling channel, the useful questions are whether you can loop or schedule episodes, send the feed to YouTube, manage interruptions, and understand the service’s limits and costs.
Cloud playout is not the same as uploading an ordinary YouTube video, scheduling a premiere, or using a live encoder. A playout service arranges and sends prerecorded material as a continuing or scheduled feed. An encoder converts a live or assembled input into a stream; it may need additional systems for scheduling, storage, and delivery.
No reviewed source establishes that running a continuous stream will grow a channel, increase watch time, or improve monetization. Choose a 24/7 feed because its programming format suits your audience and production capacity, not as a guaranteed growth tactic. If you only have occasional stories, ordinary uploads or scheduled streams may involve less operating complexity.

Best options, ranked for this use case
| Rank and service | Documented fit | YouTube evidence | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | Cloud service for looping uploaded videos and playlists as an always-on YouTube stream. | Designed to stream uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream camera feeds or other platforms. | One slot means one always-on stream. Storage is 10 GB per slot, pooled across active slots. Confirm your content fits and review the current plan terms. |
| 2. Castr | Schedules uploaded videos, recordings, and live streams into a continuous channel, with schedule and loop modes. | Castr says its playout can deliver to YouTube. | File, loop, output, and capacity limits vary by plan. Confirm the current tier’s limits and billing terms. |
| 3. Gyre | Purpose-oriented workflow for looping prerecorded videos and scheduling broadcasts in the cloud. | YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Gyre as a tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming. | Current price, resolution, stream limits, restart behavior, and archive implications were not established by the reviewed pages; confirm them with Gyre. |
| 4. TVU Channel | Broader cloud scheduling and playout for live programming and distribution across broadcast, OTT, app, and social destinations. | The reviewed product page did not establish a YouTube-specific workflow. | Public pricing and eligibility for a small creator were not established; ask the vendor about both. |
| 5. AWS Elemental MediaLive | Cloud live encoding with multiple inputs and scheduled or dynamic input switching; it is a building block for a custom workflow. | YouTube lists MediaLive among verified encoders. | It requires more technical assembly than a packaged playout service. Total charges depend on configuration, including inputs, outputs, and add-ons. |
StreamNeo is first for this specific need because it runs an uploaded-video YouTube stream from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers the first day free. If you need to schedule a mix of prerecorded files, recordings, and live inputs, Castr documents that broader playout workflow. Gyre is also directly relevant for prerecorded loops. TVU Channel and MediaLive are better treated as options to qualify for broader or more technical requirements.

Castr: scheduled playout with a broader lineup
Castr’s TV playout documentation describes scheduling uploaded videos, recordings, and live streams into one continuous channel. It offers schedule and loop modes, live-stream insertion, and schedule changes during a run. Castr says its playout can deliver to YouTube, embedded players, social platforms, custom RTMP/SRT destinations, and OTT apps. The page says each plan includes one playout channel, while file, loop, and output limits scale by tier; check the current tier details against your lineup before committing. See Castr TV playout.
When accessed in 2026, Castr’s pricing page listed Starter at $19.99 monthly, or $16.67 per month billed annually ($199.99 billed yearly). The page showed two concurrent streams on monthly billing or three on annual billing, six destinations, 200 GB monthly bandwidth or a 2.4 TB upfront annual pool, and 100 GB hosted-video storage. Castr positioned Starter for a small team running one or two live channels. These are vendor-published figures that may change; verify the current Castr plans and whether its definitions of streams, destinations, bandwidth, and playout limits fit your use.

Gyre: continuous prerecorded-video streaming
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Gyre for cloud-based 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. Gyre describes playlist looping, scheduled broadcasts, and running streams without a dedicated PC. Those are relevant workflow claims, but any claim that continuous streaming increases views or viewing time is vendor marketing, not an established outcome for your channel. The reviewed pages did not establish a current plan price or the service’s limits for resolution, concurrent streams, restarts, or archives. Check those details directly before selecting it. See Gyre and YouTube’s encoder guidance.
TVU Channel: broadcast-oriented cloud playout
TVU describes TVU Channel as cloud-native scheduling and playout for channels, including live programming and distribution to broadcast, OTT, apps, and social destinations. That breadth may suit an operation with broadcast-style workflows, but the reviewed page did not establish public pricing, small-creator eligibility, or a YouTube-specific destination workflow. Treat it as a vendor qualification call rather than assuming it is a small-channel package. See TVU Channel.
AWS Elemental MediaLive: a configurable encoding component
AWS Elemental MediaLive is a managed cloud live-encoding service. AWS documents multiple inputs and scheduled or dynamic input switching, and YouTube lists MediaLive as a verified encoder. That does not make MediaLive a complete turnkey video-library scheduler: a small channel may need to assemble and operate the surrounding workflow for source material, scheduling, storage, delivery, and monitoring. AWS’s implementation guidance is aimed at readers with practical cloud and streaming architecture experience.

MediaLive charges depend on the selected configuration rather than matching a creator playout subscription unit for unit. AWS says: “To calculate the total cost of a MediaLive channel, add together the cost of each input, output, and add-on feature.” Estimate the actual architecture using AWS Elemental MediaLive and its pricing page; include intended resolution, operating hours, output count, viewer delivery, storage, and failover needs.

The service you choose does not bypass YouTube’s live-stream rules. YouTube says a channel must be verified, have live streaming enabled, and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours. YouTube also says live content must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; it can age-restrict or remove streams or restrict a creator’s ability to livestream. Read YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Confirm that the channel is verified and live streaming is enabled before scheduling a launch.
- Review each story, illustration, music track, sound effect, and other element for rights and permissions. Owning or having permission for one part does not establish rights to every part of a production.
- Set the audience designation accurately for the content and follow the platform’s applicable rules for children’s content. Do not assume a cloud provider determines whether a video is suitable or compliant.
- Plan the lineup and stream title so viewers can tell what is playing, and monitor the stream after launch for playback or policy issues.
How to choose without overbuilding
- Choose the format first. For a continuous rotation of uploaded stories, shortlist StreamNeo, Castr, and Gyre. For occasional releases, compare the effort of a continuous live feed with ordinary uploads or scheduled streams.
- Write down the actual lineup. Count videos, total runtime, how often the schedule changes, and whether you need to insert live programming. Castr documents mixing uploaded video, recordings, and live streams; StreamNeo is for uploaded videos and playlists.
- Check quality and capacity. Confirm supported resolution, storage, file and loop limits, simultaneous channels, output count, bandwidth or usage charges, and whether the plan includes the capacity you need. Do not assume a service’s maximum quality or quotas from another tier.
- Compare total operating cost. For a subscription, check billing period and included limits. For MediaLive or another assembled cloud architecture, count inputs, outputs, storage, viewer delivery, operating hours, failover, and the expertise required to maintain it.
- Test the exact YouTube workflow. Verify the channel’s live eligibility, configure the service with YouTube’s stream details, and confirm the feed starts and recovers as expected before relying on it for a long schedule.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your story videos or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I test a continuous stream without leaving a broadcast running?
Yes. Set up a short test using a video you have the rights to use, then confirm playback and audio in YouTube before scheduling a longer run.
Does a 24/7 prerecorded stream guarantee more views or monetization?
No. The sources reviewed do not establish that continuous streaming increases views, watch time, or revenue for a small storytelling channel.
