For a low-cost India-hosted VPS specifically marketed for streaming, Inservers’ IN-BASIC is a sourced candidate—not a proven market-wide winner. Inservers lists it from ₹880/month with 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps unmetered uplink, and says it can relay one 1080p60 stream without transcoding. Those are the provider’s specifications and capacity claims, not independent test results. Whether it is the right budget choice depends chiefly on whether you are relaying an already encoded feed or asking the VPS to transcode it.

Which option fits your kind of stream?

Option Best fit What is established Main trade-off
StreamNeo (managed, not a VPS) Running uploaded videos as a continuous YouTube stream without administering a server StreamNeo says it loops uploaded videos in the cloud, supports playlists and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It plays uploaded videos; it is not an Nginx relay for a live camera or another live encoded feed, and it does not provide VPS administration control.
Inservers IN-BASIC Self-managed relay of one already encoded stream, if the provider’s stated capacity suits your workload Inservers lists a starting price of ₹880/month and says the plan can relay one 1080p60 stream without transcoding. You manage setup, monitoring and recovery. The published capacity and network claims are not independent benchmarks.
Inservers IN-PRO or IN-LITE Workloads that need more listed compute and storage, including possible transcoding or multiple relays Inservers lists larger plans and recommends them for those heavier workloads. More vCores and RAM do not by themselves establish sustained stream capacity or a reliable route to YouTube.

Among managed services or ways to keep a YouTube stream running, StreamNeo is the first alternative to consider if your source is uploaded video: it runs continuously from the cloud, accepts video up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a first day free. It is not a VPS substitute for a live feed or for someone who wants to configure Nginx.

What the Inservers plans list

Inservers’ streaming VPS page describes New Delhi deployment and markets the plans for Nginx RTMP, FFmpeg and media workflows. Its listed starting monthly plans are:

Plan Starting price per month vCores RAM Storage Listed uplink
IN-BASIC ₹880 2 4 GB 40 GB NVMe 1 Gbps, described as unmetered
IN-PRO ₹1,800 4 8 GB 80 GB NVMe 1 Gbps, described as unmetered
IN-LITE ₹3,600 6 16 GB 160 GB NVMe 1 Gbps, described as unmetered

Prices and specifications above are the provider’s listed starting terms, accessed 2026-10-03; confirm the checkout price, taxes, renewal terms, availability, support and transfer or fair-use policy before ordering. Inservers says IN-BASIC is suitable for one 1080p60 relay without transcoding and recommends larger plans for multiple relays or transcoding. Treat those as vendor guidance, not verified limits or a guarantee.

Size the VPS for relay or transcoding

Relaying an already encoded stream

A relay forwards an encoded source toward YouTube rather than decoding and encoding it into a different output. That distinction is central to budget sizing: Inservers’ specific IN-BASIC guidance applies to a single 1080p60 relay without transcoding. It does not establish that every source, route, or configuration will work reliably on that plan.

Transcoding or handling multiple feeds

Transcoding adds processing work; multiple relays add workload and outbound traffic. Inservers recommends IN-PRO or IN-LITE for these cases, but does not provide independent capacity tests in the cited plan information. Choose a larger plan only after accounting for the actual number of outputs, whether they are re-encoded, and the provider’s applicable transfer policy. Test the intended configuration before relying on it for an unattended broadcast.

Do not read the uplink label as a guarantee

A stated 1 Gbps port speed is not a promise of end-to-end throughput to YouTube, and the word “unmetered” does not prove unlimited real-world sustained use. Route quality, sustained stability, CPU load and provider policy all matter. Confirm the transfer/fair-use terms and monitor the real connection and stream health under your own workload.

Match YouTube’s ingest settings to the source

YouTube’s live guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Its recommended H.264 bitrates include:

Output profile YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate
720p60 8 Mbps
1080p30 14 Mbps
1080p60 17 Mbps

These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, not a VPS benchmark or a guarantee that a particular plan can sustain the stream. Use the profile that matches the actual output resolution and frame rate, and test with representative motion and audio before going live. YouTube also advises monitoring stream health during the event.

Use the ingest endpoint and key issued for your broadcast

Get the current ingest endpoint and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room or the API; do not copy an example URL and assume it is your production endpoint. Treat the stream key as a credential: keep it out of public configuration examples and rotate it if exposed.

Google describes RTMPS as “a regular RTMP (RealTime Messaging Protocol) video stream tunneled through an SSL connection.” Its RTMPS documentation specifies a valid endpoint and path, port 443, and SNI using the server hostname for authentication. Use the exact endpoint details YouTube supplies and ensure the client or relay handles the hostname correctly; an IP-only connection or incorrect SNI can prevent authenticated ingest.

Plan the self-managed setup and recovery

An Nginx RTMP VPS is a server-administered solution, not just a monthly rental. Before committing a channel to it, document the source, output profile, ingest credentials, restart behavior and who will respond if the relay stops.

  1. Confirm the workload. Decide whether the input is already encoded and merely needs relaying, or must be transcoded; count simultaneous outputs and select a plan accordingly.
  2. Verify the purchase terms. Check the current price, taxes, renewal, transfer/fair-use policy, availability and support with the VPS provider.
  3. Configure the relay and ingest. Install and configure the server software and relay path for your source. Use YouTube’s current endpoint and stream key, and configure RTMPS correctly if using protected ingest. The right software settings depend on your source and whether you re-encode; no single Nginx configuration fits every workflow.
  4. Test before scheduling a long run. Send representative video and audio, confirm the selected resolution, frame rate, bitrate and keyframe interval, and check YouTube’s stream health.
  5. Monitor and rehearse recovery. Watch server load, network stability and YouTube ingest status. Test how the process restarts after a disconnect or server reboot; a VPS rental alone does not establish automatic recovery.

Budget beyond the monthly VPS fee

Compare the total cost and operating burden, not only the entry price. A relay that meets the source requirements may need less compute than a transcoding workflow, while hands-on setup, monitoring and recovery remain your responsibility. Before deciding, compare:

  • Monthly price, taxes, renewal terms and any transfer overage or fair-use restriction.
  • Whether the workload is a single encoded relay, transcoding, or several simultaneous outputs.
  • Available CPU, RAM and storage for the actual software and workload.
  • Observed sustained network route and stability to YouTube, rather than the port-speed label alone.
  • Time and expertise needed for setup, monitoring, restart handling and troubleshooting.

The available evidence does not support a provider-by-provider comparison of India VPS plans, nor a definitive claim that one provider is the cheapest or best-performing across India. Inservers IN-BASIC is a directly relevant published candidate; validate its terms and test the stream you intend to run.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the source is uploaded video to loop—not a live camera or live encoded feed—StreamNeo avoids keeping a VPS and relay configuration under your administration. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream going without a computer, OBS or home connection staying on.

  • Nothing has to stay switched on at home; StreamNeo runs the uploaded-video stream in the cloud.
  • Video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no re-encode or quality tiers.
  • Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free, with no card required; one free day is available per account.
  • Monthly: $9.99 per month. Other billing periods are available, and you can cancel any time.

Every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops, and support from the StreamNeo team. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support. See StreamNeo and current plan information, then start the free first day.
