Daisy Kelliher said she began filming Below Deck Sailing Yacht season five angry and feeling unsupported by Gary King. In an October 2024 interview, she traced the tension to the season-four reunion, which took place only days before the crew returned to work together.
Why was Daisy angry with Gary?
The tension followed the season-four love triangle involving Daisy, Gary and chief engineer Colin MacRae. Gary disclosed that he and Daisy had hooked up between seasons while Daisy was dating Colin, and the reunion revisited the conflict. Daisy said she thought she and Gary had cleared the air, but afterward felt he was angry with her and would not speak with her in the days before filming resumed. She said she arrived feeling unsupported and angry. AOL’s report, reproducing an Entertainment Weekly interview, and E! News’ interview-based coverage both recount her account.
Daisy described the emotional effect of the reunion and the abrupt transition back to filming: “I was overthinking and spiraling and it got quite bad. It was quite dark.” The comment was about that period before season five, not a statement about her present circumstances.
How did the reunion affect the start of season five?
With only a few days between the reunion and filming, Daisy said she and Gary returned to the boat before the disagreement had settled. She described the crew’s early-season dynamic this way: “The reunion created a lot of tension, so that’s why we went in so heated. It’s hard looking back on that because I was so angry after the reunion and the way I was treated.” This is Daisy’s description of her feelings and experience; the reports do not establish Gary’s motives.

Did Daisy and Gary’s relationship improve?
Daisy said the friction eased as the season went on. In the 2024 E! News report, she characterized their later relationship as cordial but distant: “We’re not the best of friends, we live very separate lives. But I’ve got no issues with him.” That describes her account at the time of the interview; it does not establish their relationship status in 2026.
