‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Cast Guide: Who’s Back for the Haunted Sequel?

The principal returning cast of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, and Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz. The most significant newcomer is Jenna Ortega as Astrid, Lydia’s daughter. Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti, and Willem Dafoe are also among the prominent new additions. The official story setup brings three generations of the Deetz family back to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy.

Cast at a glance

Returning performers from the original film

Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice

Keaton is the film’s title character and the reason the sequel exists at all. Warner Bros. official film materials identify him as returning to the iconic role. The studio materials do not describe how much screen time he has, so this guide does not compare his prominence to other cast members.

Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz

Ryder returns as Lydia Deetz, the character who links the original story to the new one. She is also the parent of Astrid, which places her at the center of the family arc the official setup describes.

Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz

O’Hara returns as Delia Deetz, part of the returning Deetz family. The official materials confirm her return but do not provide further character detail in the sources reviewed for this guide.

Three generations of the Deetz family

The official Warner Bros. film materials describe the premise this way: “After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River.” The statement comes from the studio’s film materials, not from a named individual, so it should be read as the studio’s own description of the film.

That structure explains the cast’s organization. The returning adults, Lydia and Delia, anchor the older generation, while Astrid represents the next. Ortega’s role is the most important new family connection because the official materials tie Astrid directly to Lydia as her daughter.

New cast members

Warner Bros. official materials and its November 25, 2024 press release identify the following prominent additions:

• Jenna Ortega as Astrid, Lydia’s daughter. She is the only new performer whose character is named in the official materials reviewed for this guide.
• Justin Theroux, listed as a new cast member. This guide does not assign him a character because the official materials cited here do not establish one.
• Monica Bellucci, listed as a new cast member, with no character detail stated in the same materials.
• Arthur Conti, listed as a new cast member. Warner Bros. describes his role as his feature-film debut.
• Willem Dafoe, listed as a new cast member, with no character detail stated in the same materials.

These names are the prominent new additions in the studio’s own announcements. They are not a complete list of every credited performer. For a full credited cast, check the film’s end credits or a cast database, and treat any character name in a secondary source as unverified unless it matches the studio materials.

Original-cast names not on the principal list

Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin, who appeared in the 1988 original, do not appear among the principal returning names in the Warner Bros. materials used for this guide. Those materials do not explicitly state whether either performer appears in the sequel, so this is a observation about the principal cast list, not a confirmed statement about their participation.

Release, streaming, and rating details

• Theatrical release: Warner Bros. official materials give a US theatrical release date of September 6, 2024, with international release beginning September 4, 2024.
• Streaming on Max (announced): Warner Bros. Discovery announced a global streaming debut on Max for December 6, 2024, in its November 25, 2024 press release. That was a 2024 announcement. It does not confirm where the film streams today, since Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming service has been subject to change.
• Streaming on Netflix (US): Netflix Tudum reported that the film was streaming on Netflix in the United States in its 2024 coverage. Streaming catalogs differ by country and change over time, so check your country’s current listings before relying on this.
• Rating and runtime: Swank Motion Pictures’ 2025 catalog lists the film as PG-13 with a runtime of 104 minutes. These are catalog details from a licensing source, not from the studio’s own rating certificate.

Availability is region-specific and volatile. If a streaming platform is the reason you are reading this guide, confirm the film’s current status on that platform before you watch.
