Yes. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice finished ahead of Transformers One in the North American weekend box-office ranking for September 20–22, 2024, when Transformers One opened in second place. The Numbers’ currently listed theatrical grosses also put Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ahead domestically and worldwide. Those are separate comparisons: the movies did not open on the same weekend.
Who won the September 20–22, 2024 weekend?
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice held the No. 1 spot in the United States and Canada as Transformers One debuted at No. 2. The Associated Press reported Sunday estimates of $26 million for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and $25 million for Transformers One, for Friday through Sunday in U.S. and Canadian theaters. These were weekend estimates, not final lifetime grosses. Associated Press, September 22, 2024.
At that point, AP reported Beetlejuice Beetlejuice had reached $329.8 million globally after three weeks, while Transformers One had taken in $39 million worldwide over its opening weekend. These are contemporaneous 2024 figures, not the films’ final totals.
They did not have the same opening weekend
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opened in the U.S. on September 6, 2024; Transformers One opened on September 20. The Numbers lists domestic opening-weekend grosses of $111,003,345 and $24,613,970, respectively. Because their release dates were two weeks apart, comparing those opening weekends measures each film’s launch, not a head-to-head weekend contest. Why worldwide totals can differ by tracker

The difference is modest, but it is a reason to identify the tracker whenever quoting a worldwide total rather than presenting one database figure as universal. Gross is ticket revenue reported for theatrical exhibition. It is not the amount a studio keeps, and comparing a gross with a production budget does not establish whether a film made a profit. The figures above answer which film earned more at the box office according to the named tracker; they do not provide a complete accounting of either film’s costs, distribution arrangements, or other revenue.
