Baymax! is a six-episode animated series set in the world of Big Hero 6. It premiered on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, with all six episodes available at launch—not as a new 2026 release or a theatrical movie sequel.
What is Baymax!?
Made by Walt Disney Animation Studios, Baymax! follows the inflatable healthcare companion robot introduced in the 2014 film Big Hero 6. Back in San Fransokyo, Baymax helps residents with everyday health problems. Episodes begin with a physical ailment or practical concern and may lead into the personal or emotional issue behind it. The humor often comes from Baymax’s earnest, literal approach—and from people who are not sure they want his help. Disney’s series media kit describes the six-episode series; the original film’s official page introduces Baymax as a personal healthcare companion robot.
When did it arrive, and how were the episodes released?
The U.S. premiere was Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Disney’s June schedule listed Baymax! as a Season 1 premiere with all six episodes streaming that day, rather than releasing episodes weekly. Disney’s June 2022 schedule confirms the rollout, while its announcement of the series gives the premiere date.
Is it a Big Hero 6 movie sequel?
No: Baymax! is a television series and follow-up to the film, not a feature-length theatrical sequel. It returns to the film’s setting but narrows its focus to Baymax and the people he helps, rather than centering on superhero missions by the full team. That also distinguishes it from Big Hero 6: The Series, the separate television production that follows the wider team. D23’s behind-the-scenes account discusses the Baymax-centered approach.

Who created it, and who voices the characters?
Don Hall, director of the 2014 film, created the series. Roy Conli and Bradford Simonsen are producers, and Cirocco Dunlap is the screenwriter. Episode direction is shared: Dean Wellins directed episodes 1, 2, and 6; Lissa Treiman episode 3; Dan Abraham episode 4; and Mark Kennedy episode 5. Disney lists these credits in its series media kit.
Scott Adsit returns as Baymax, with Ryan Potter as Hiro and Maya Rudolph as Cass among the returning or featured voices. The announced cast also includes Emily Kuroda, Lilimar, Zeno Robinson, and Jaboukie Young-White. The cast information does not mean the original film ensemble appears throughout the series; the stories feature different residents and patients. See The Walt Disney Company’s announcement for the premiere and cast details.

Where can you watch it?
Disney announced Baymax! as a Disney+ exclusive. The title has an official Disney+ listing, but catalog access can vary by country and change over time; check the service in your region for current availability. Subscription prices and plan details are not included here because they vary and were not established by the release announcement.
The series presents fictional healthcare situations for entertainment, not medical advice. Viewers looking for another action-led adventure with the whole superhero team should expect a gentler, more personal set of stories instead.
