The likely UK bank offer is Barclays Blue Rewards. Secondary coverage indicates that qualifying customers may receive an Apple TV subscription, but the benefit appears to be tied to a paid rewards package and monthly account conditions. That means Apple TV could be free as a separate subscription while the overall arrangement is not necessarily free.
Barclays’ current consumer terms should be checked before applying: the reported £5 monthly Blue Rewards fee and £800 monthly pay-in requirement were not confirmed in the official Barclays results available for this article.
The short version
- Bank: Barclays.
- Product: Barclays Blue Rewards, rather than every Barclays current account.
- Benefit: reported access to Apple TV for eligible customers.
- Reported conditions: a monthly Blue Rewards fee, a minimum monthly pay-in and digital-banking access. Confirm the current figures and rules with Barclays.
- Bank switch: do not assume one is required. The live promotion should say whether existing Barclays customers can join and whether new customers must switch.
Apple currently calls the service Apple TV, although many people still call it Apple TV+. Apple’s UK page lists the standalone subscription at £9.99 per month after a seven-day trial on the indexed page. See Apple’s UK subscription page.
What “totally free” really means
There are two different claims:
- Free Apple TV: Barclays may cover the separate Apple TV subscription while you remain eligible.
- Free overall package: this is not guaranteed if Blue Rewards has a monthly charge or requires you to alter how you fund the account.
Use this calculation:
Net value = Apple TV’s monthly price − Blue Rewards fee − any extra cost caused by the account requirements.

If you already want Barclays and can meet the funding requirement naturally, the benefit may produce a genuine saving. If you are opening or switching solely for television, the saving may be small or disappear once the fee and inconvenience are included.
Who qualifies?
The current Barclays offer terms need to answer each of these questions:
- Which Barclays current-account types are eligible?
- Can existing customers add Blue Rewards, or is a new account required?
- Are new customers, switchers, joint-account holders, basic-account customers or student-account customers included?
- What is the exact Blue Rewards fee?
- What does the monthly pay-in mean: salary only, total credits or qualifying deposits?
- Can payments be split, and do transfers from another account count?
- Must digital banking be registered?
- Is there an enrolment deadline, offer end date or limited allocation?
- Is eligibility assessed per customer, account or household?
- What happens after a missed monthly requirement?
Do not rely on the reported £800 figure or any reported fee until they appear in the current Barclays terms. A customer can hold an eligible account yet fail to receive the streaming benefit if a particular month’s conditions are not met.

- Open or hold the eligible Barclays current account.
- Join or activate Blue Rewards.
- Meet the required monthly pay-in and digital-banking conditions.
- Open the relevant offer or rewards area in Barclays digital banking.
- Select the Apple TV activation option.
- Sign in with the Apple Account that should receive the subscription.
- Confirm the offer and note any renewal or expiry date.
Apple’s general guidance says to open the Apple TV app, choose the Apple TV tab, select Sign In or Sign Up and follow the promotional prompts. Do not activate it with an Apple Account you do not intend to keep using.
If you already have Apple TV, Apple One or Family Sharing
Eligibility is a major uncertainty. Apple promotional offers can be restricted for people who previously subscribed, used a trial, accessed the service through Family Sharing or redeemed a similar promotion. The Barclays-specific rules may be different, so do not assume that existing subscribers are automatically excluded—or automatically eligible.
Before cancelling an existing plan, establish how the Barclays benefit will be billed and whether your current subscription would overlap. Apple One includes Apple TV alongside other services, so replacing it with a bank-linked benefit could remove services you still use.

What the subscription includes
Apple TV gives access to Apple’s included Apple Originals and other content covered by the subscription. It does not automatically make every item in the Apple TV app free. Third-party channels, rentals and purchases can require separate payment. See Apple’s subscription guidance.
Apple TV is available through the Apple TV app on compatible Apple devices, smart TVs, streaming devices, PCs and Android devices, although availability varies by device and country.

Check the Barclays terms before joining. They should explain whether the benefit stops when you:
- cancel Blue Rewards;
- miss the monthly pay-in condition;
- close the current account; or
- fail another eligibility test.
Also check whether Apple begins charging automatically after the covered period. Apple’s terms generally require customers to cancel free offers or trials before a charge starts if they do not want to continue. Keep watch history, profiles and Family Sharing expectations separate from billing: those may remain associated with the Apple Account even when subscription access ends, but the bank and Apple control different parts of the arrangement.
If the offer does not appear
- Confirm that your Barclays account and Blue Rewards package are eligible.
- Check that Blue Rewards is active.
- Verify that the required pay-in has cleared, not merely been scheduled.
- Update the Barclays app and sign back into digital banking.
- Look in Barclays’ rewards or offers area before searching inside the Apple TV app.
- Check that the Apple Account region is set to the UK.
- Review previous trials, subscriptions and Family Sharing redemption history.
- Do not create a second Apple Account to bypass eligibility rules.
Contact Barclays first if the benefit is missing. Once Barclays confirms eligibility, contact Apple for an activation or billing problem. Apple recommends checking eligibility, previous redemptions, software updates and the Apple Account being used; see Apple’s promotional-offer support page.
Is switching banks worth it?
Usually, the offer is most attractive to someone who already wants Barclays or Blue Rewards, can meet the monthly funding rule without rearranging their finances and would otherwise pay for Apple TV.
It is a weaker reason to switch if you want only a streaming subscription, already receive Apple TV through Apple One, a family member or another provider, cannot reliably meet the pay-in condition, or would lose better overdraft, foreign-exchange, service or branch arrangements at your current bank. Compare the complete account before moving direct debits or salary payments through the Current Account Switch Service.
