What Bill Lawrence said about season 2
When Apple announced the renewal on December 17, 2024, Lawrence said: “I hope that people know that Carl Hiaasen is an idol of mine and an inspiration for me as a writer.” He added that continuing the story with Vince Vaughn and the surviving characters was exciting, and thanked Apple TV+, Warner Bros. and the production team. The comments were part of the renewal announcement, not a later interview focused on the new season. Apple’s renewal announcement identifies Lawrence as showrunner and executive producer.

What is the season 2 story?
Apple describes season two as an all-new original story. Yancy, played by Vaughn, witnesses the murder of a fixer. An ambitious state attorney pairs him with a forensic accountant to investigate; Yancy also hopes to get his detective’s badge back and becomes caught up in a turf war between criminal organizations.
Apple’s synopsis also points to Yancy’s aging father, unresolved romantic tension with Dr. Rosa Campensino as she investigates a mysterious rash, and an animal relocation specialist whose business threatens the local environment. These are details from Apple’s announced synopsis, not independently reported plot developments.
