Jenn Tran was still processing the end of her engagement to Devin Strader when she had to relive the proposal—and its collapse—in front of a live television audience. The couple became engaged while filming The Bachelorette season 21 in May 2024, but their relationship had ended by the time the September 3, 2024 finale and After the Final Rose special aired. Tran later described a painful breakup in which, she said, Strader became distant, withdrew from plans they had made, and told her he no longer loved her.
The public saw Jenn Tran accept Devin Strader’s proposal at the end of The Bachelorette season 21. What viewers did not know at first was that the engagement had already ended before the finale broadcast.
That timing made Tran’s appearance on the live finale especially difficult. What Tran said happened after filming
During After the Final Rose on September 3, Tran said Strader’s behavior changed after they left Hawaii. According to Tran’s account, their calls and texts became less frequent, plans they had discussed were pulled back, and Strader told her that he no longer loved her and regretted getting engaged.
Tran also said she tried to find a way to preserve the relationship. Rather than insisting that they remain engaged, she said she offered to continue dating without the ring and work through their problems. She said Strader did not want to continue the relationship and declined couples counseling. Those details come from Tran’s account of the breakup and should not be treated as independently established facts about Strader’s motives or conduct. The emotional weight of the conversation came from the contrast between the televised proposal and the private end of the engagement. Tran discussed the breakup again after the finale

Tran said that after the finale she reached out to Strader to wish him well. She later stopped engaging after receiving messages from other women and becoming upset by what she viewed as his behavior. In subsequent reporting, Tran described the release of private text messages as a betrayal and disrespect. That is her characterization of the experience; it does not independently establish Strader’s intent.
How Devin Strader responded
Strader responded publicly around September 10 and 11, 2024, in an Instagram video lasting approximately 13 minutes. He presented the relationship as complicated and two-sided, said he wanted to provide context, and said he was taking responsibility for his part in the breakup. His version challenged the idea that Tran had been simply abandoned without explanation.
Strader also included screenshots of private text exchanges. The video was later deleted, and he apologized after sensitive information was accidentally displayed. The screenshots and his statements establish what Strader chose to claim and publish; they do not, by themselves, determine which partner’s complete account is correct. Reports on the video and its deletion were published by Us Weekly.
The resulting public dispute therefore has two distinct layers: the original disagreement over how the relationship ended, and the later conflict over whether private communications should have been posted online. Tran and Strader gave materially different accounts of the post-show relationship. Available reporting does not provide a complete, independently verified record of every private conversation between them.

Separate reports about Strader’s past legal controversy
In September 2024, coverage also surfaced allegations involving Strader’s 2017 arrest and a former partner’s protection-from-abuse filing. Those matters are separate from the August 2024 breakup and should not be folded into the relationship story as proof of what happened between Tran and Strader.
Because the dossier does not include primary court documentation establishing the full circumstances of those matters, they require careful qualification. Strader later issued a statement to TV Insider addressing the surrounding coverage. That report should be consulted for his response. Allegations, arrest records and protective-order filings are not interchangeable, and none should be presented as a settled explanation for the breakup without appropriate primary documentation.
What Tran said she learned
In an October 2024 interview with Us Weekly, Tran described the experience as heartbreaking, emotional and ultimately hopeful. She said she had learned from not trusting her gut. Tran later entered a relationship with Sasha Farber, her partner on Dancing with the Stars. TMZ reported in June 2025 that Tran and Farber had ended that relationship amicably and remained friends. That later breakup is unrelated to the original Tran-Strader engagement and should not be confused with it. TMZ’s report describes the later development.
In February 2025, TV Insider reported that Strader publicly introduced Skyler Springstun as his girlfriend in an Instagram post for Valentine’s Day. A separate September 2025 report from Reality TV World said Tran and Strader were still exchanging public comments one year after the breakup. That report concerns social-media exchanges and is not a primary account from either person, so it should be read as later coverage rather than as a definitive statement of their current relationship. TV Insider reported Strader’s 2025 relationship update, while Reality TV World covered the reported online exchanges.
