Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday trailer is officially available online, but Marvel has not confirmed a hidden-message explanation for the poster’s mural. The footage shows Doctor Doom stopping Thor’s Stormbreaker strike, then Mjolnir moving before Steve Rogers appears. Those images are confirmed; what the mural means and what Steve’s appearance signals remain open questions.
Where to watch the official Avengers: Doomsday trailer
Disney UK announced a new trailer and poster on July 20, 2026, and embedded the trailer in its official announcement. Disney’s U.S. movie page also hosts official video assets, including a 2:25 “Official Trailer” and a 2:09 “Special Look.” The released asset is identified as a trailer in Disney UK’s announcement; “teaser” is not the official name given there.

What the trailer shows
Marvel Japan’s official article describing the footage says Thor calls on the heroes to stop fighting and unite. Doctor Doom catches Thor’s Stormbreaker strike with two fingers. Mjolnir then moves, and Steve Rogers appears.
That sequence establishes what the article says is shown, but it does not establish why Mjolnir moves, what Steve’s role will be, or how the events fit into the film’s plot. Treat predictions about those points as speculation unless Marvel confirms them.

Is the poster’s hidden message explained?
No definitive explanation has been published in the official material cited here. The poster places Doctor Doom in front of a large mural, but Marvel Japan leaves its meaning unresolved, asking, “What does that mural mean? We look forward to seeing whether its mystery will be revealed in the film.” That is Marvel’s editorial wording, translated into English in the article—not a confirmed decoding.
The mural may invite theories about characters, past MCU events, or what comes next, but the official article does not identify its figures or symbols. Any claim that it points to a particular hero or plot twist should be presented as a fan theory, not an official reveal.

Release dates and confirmed credits
Disney lists the U.S. release date as December 18, 2026, while Disney UK lists December 16, 2026. These are territory-specific dates, not necessarily a contradiction.
Disney’s U.S. film page credits Anthony Russo and Joe Russo as directors and Stephen McFeely as writer, and identifies Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. D23’s March 26, 2025 cast announcement also identifies Downey as returning as Victor von Doom. In that announcement, D23 quoted the Russo brothers saying that creating stories and exploring characters in the Marvel Universe had fulfilled a lifelong dream and that they had found a powerful connection with audiences through their films.
