When and where did Ashley Biden and Howard Krein marry?
Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden announced the marriage on June 2, 2012. Their statement placed the ceremony in Wilmington, Delaware, but did not name the venue. A report published by The Forward two days later identified the church as St. Joseph on the Brandywine.
What was reported about the ceremony?
The Bidens’ announcement characterized the ceremony as private and said it was attended by close family and friends. The Forward reported that the service combined Catholic and Reform Jewish traditions and was officiated by Father David Murphy and Rabbi Joseph M. The report also put attendance at 200; that figure is a contemporary news report, not a number given in the family’s announcement.
Where was the reception?
An Associated Press report carried by CBS News on June 2 said the reception followed at the Biden residence in Greenville, Delaware. That is separate from the ceremony’s reported location in Wilmington. The wedding was not described as taking place at the White House.

The White House Office of the Vice President published this joint statement on June 2, 2012:
“We are pleased to announce that our daughter, Ashley Blazer Biden, married Dr. Howard Krein this evening in Wilmington, Delaware. The private ceremony was attended by the bride and groom’s close family and friends. We’re happy to welcome Howard into our family, and we wish them all the best in their new life together.”
