El director mexicano León Serment fue asesinado el 27 de agosto de 2016 en la colonia Merced Gómez, entonces delegación Álvaro Obregón, Ciudad de México. La primera versión pública describió un asalto. Después, la Procuraduría General de Justicia capitalina atribuyó a su hijo y a la novia de este la organización de los homicidios de Serment y de su esposa, Adriana Rosique. En 2017, medios informaron condenas para varios implicados; las cifras y reconstrucciones que siguen se atribuyen a las autoridades tal como fueron reportadas, no a una revisión independiente del expediente.
Qué ocurrió con León Serment
Serment fue atacado al volver a casa el 27 de agosto de 2016. La cobertura inicial lo presentó como víctima de un robo en Merced Gómez. En la reconstrucción que la Fiscalía dio a conocer más tarde, dos personas se acercaron a Serment y a su hijo y simularon un asalto. El País informó que el fiscal capitalino Rodolfo Ríos atribuyó la organización del crimen al hijo de Serment y a su novia; según esa versión, ambos habrían pagado a dos personas para ejecutar el ataque y planificado durante dos meses. Estas son afirmaciones de la autoridad reproducidas por la prensa.
Las cifras sobre las lesiones también corresponden a momentos distintos de la cobertura. El Universal informó el 29 de agosto de 2016 que Serment había recibido ocho puñaladas, con base en la información inicial de la PGJ. En la reconstrucción posterior atribuida a peritos de la Fiscalía y difundida por El País, se contabilizaron 46 heridas, 12 mortales. No son cifras intercambiables: la primera fue el reporte preliminar y la segunda, el recuento posterior divulgado dentro de la investigación.
Por qué el caso también incluye a Adriana Rosique
El 19 de septiembre de 2016, Adriana Rosique, esposa de Serment, fue encontrada muerta en su casa. Al principio, su muerte se consideró un posible suicidio. La investigación posterior la trató como homicidio y la vinculó con el asesinato de Serment, de modo que el caso pasó de un ataque presentado como robo a una pesquisa sobre dos muertes conectadas.

La PGJ informó de la detención de cuatro personas entre el 30 de septiembre y el 1 de octubre de 2016. Según la cobertura de El Universal, la autoridad dijo que examinó videos de cámaras y encontró contradicciones en declaraciones. La explicación pública atribuyó al hijo de la pareja y a su novia la planificación, y a otras dos personas la ejecución material. Esa descripción resume la versión investigativa reportada entonces; no sustituye los documentos judiciales.
Condenas reportadas en 2017
Las noticias sobre las sentencias aparecieron en fechas distintas y para personas distintas. El Universal informó el 7 de junio de 2017 que Sarahí N. había recibido una condena de 13 años y cuatro meses, además de una sanción económica de 120 mil pesos. La misma nota señaló que los otros tres implicados, incluido el hijo de Serment, todavía esperaban una audiencia intermedia en ese momento.

El 19 de octubre de 2017, TVP informó, atribuyendo la información al Tribunal Superior de Justicia de la Ciudad de México, que Juan Benjamín Serment Rosique y Pamela Soto fueron condenados a 33 años por los homicidios de Serment y Rosique. TVP añadió que el hijo reconoció su responsabilidad mediante un procedimiento abreviado. Estas son condenas tal como las reportaron los medios en 2017; aquí no se revisaron las sentencias originales ni se verificó si hubo apelaciones o cambios posteriores.
La declaración pública del hijo
En una nota de 2017, El País recogió esta declaración de Juan Benjamín Serment Rosique: “Yo no mandé matar a mis padres. Los extraño.” Era su negación pública, difundida antes de la cobertura posterior sobre la condena. La cita expresa lo que él dijo; no altera el resultado judicial reportado después.
