What happened in the Vogue Japan photo?
The image was part of Vogue Japan’s March 2026 cover story featuring Grande. In a version that circulated online, her left hand appeared to have an extra finger. TheWrap and TMZ reported on the image and its apparent error.

How did Ariana Grande react?
In its January 30, 2026 report, TheWrap quoted Grande first reacting, “Holy s–t,” then joking: “Oh my goodness how exciting! I’ve been saying I need some extra appendages so that I can start an album! Thankful for this.” Her remarks treated the apparent mistake with humor.

Was the image corrected?
TheWrap reported that Vogue Japan later fixed the online image. TMZ’s January 30 report said the same photo in the official online spread appeared without the apparent extra finger. That establishes a difference between the circulated version and the corrected online image; it does not establish what was printed in the magazine.
Was it an AI error?
The available reports do not identify how the apparent extra finger entered the image. It is accurate to describe it as an apparent editing or retouching error, but there is no confirmation that generative AI was involved—or that any particular production method caused it.
