No—not as a general current offer. Netflix subscribers could play the mobile versions of Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition at no extra game charge when the titles launched in December 2023. They later left Netflix Games in stages, so the headline is historical, not a reliable claim for August 2026. Catalogs can vary by region; check the Games section in your own Netflix app.
What Netflix offered
Netflix announced the mobile trilogy for December 14, 2023. The offer covered three separate mobile games: Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition. Members could find them through Netflix’s mobile gaming offering, with downloads distributed through the Netflix app and the iOS App Store or Google Play. Netflix’s launch announcement describes the mobile release.
These were mobile versions of The Definitive Edition trilogy—not Netflix access to the original console or PC releases, and not a console or PC benefit. Rockstar describes the collection as having updated lighting and environmental effects, higher-resolution textures, increased draw distances, and modernized controls. Those changes distinguish the Definitive Edition from the original releases, but do not make it a separate new story trilogy. Rockstar’s product page lists the collection and its features.
When the games left Netflix Games
The three games did not leave at the same time. The dates below are reported catalog departures, not a permanent global archive from Netflix; availability can differ by market.

GTA III and Vice City were reported as leaving in December 2024, with San Andreas remaining longer before its reported departure in mid-December 2025. See the report on GTA III and Vice City and the report on San Andreas. As of August 2026, the evidence does not support treating all three as a generally available Netflix Games bundle. If one appears in your local catalog, availability in that market is the relevant exception.
What “free with Netflix” meant
“Free” meant no separate game purchase price while a title was included in Netflix Games. It did not mean that the games were free to everyone or permanently owned by subscribers. A player needed an active Netflix membership and a compatible mobile device, and access depended on the title remaining in the catalog and meeting the service’s account and platform requirements.
Downloading a game while it was available did not establish permanent ownership. After a title leaves a subscription catalog, whether an old installation still launches can depend on the device, app version, account, and entitlement checks. An earlier download is not proof of a lasting license, and progress or access should not be assumed to transfer to a paid copy or another platform.

Can you still find them in Netflix?
Do not rely on old download instructions as a current workaround. When the games were included, the general route was to open Netflix on a compatible phone or tablet, find the title in Games, choose its download option, install it through the relevant app store, and launch it using the Netflix account with an active membership. Netflix’s announcement confirms the mobile distribution model, but menu names and screens can change with app versions.
If a title is missing, check the current Netflix app and your local catalog rather than changing app-store regions. A missing listing may reflect the reported catalog departure, regional availability, device compatibility, or the difference between a Netflix entitlement and a paid Rockstar listing. Reinstalling Netflix or switching storefront regions cannot legitimately restore a license Netflix or the publisher no longer offers.
Where to play the games now
Buy a mobile edition
Individual mobile editions are the closest alternative if you want to play on a phone or tablet without relying on Netflix’s catalog. Check the live listing, region, price, and supported device in the Apple App Store, Google Play, or, where supported, the Amazon Appstore. Contemporary launch coverage reported a $20-per-game purchase price for the Definitive Edition mobile releases in 2023; that is a launch-era figure, not a guaranteed current price in any storefront or country. GameSpot’s launch coverage reported the Netflix inclusion and individual purchase option.

A mobile purchase is for that mobile platform; it does not by itself grant the console or PC version. Device support matters too: Rockstar said its Apple iOS titles require iOS 17 or later for continued updates and support as of July 24, 2026. Requirements can change, so check Rockstar Support and the storefront listing before buying, particularly on an older iPhone or iPad.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is sold as a separate paid collection for supported platforms through Rockstar’s Store. Check the relevant platform storefront for current price, platform availability, and system requirements; the available source does not establish a universal August 2026 price. A console or PC purchase is separate from a former Netflix mobile entitlement, and a mobile purchase does not automatically include the collection.
For the PC edition, Rockstar states that installation, activation, and online play require Rockstar account and launcher components; internet access is required for activation and periodic entitlement verification. The PC version should not be treated as DRM-free or unlocked by a Netflix membership.

Check GTA+ only if it suits your plans
Rockstar’s GTA+ benefits include access to a Games Library whose titles can change. That makes it a possible option for someone who already values the membership’s other benefits, not a guarantee that all three GTA games are currently available. Review the GTA+ benefits page and current Games Library information for title and platform eligibility before subscribing specifically for a game.

Common questions when a game disappears
Why can’t I find a game I played on Netflix before?
The reported removals happened in stages: GTA III and Vice City in December 2024, then San Andreas in mid-December 2025. Local catalogs may differ, so check the Netflix app in your market; an old listing or installation does not establish current access.
Why does the app store show a price?
The paid storefront listing is a separate purchase route from the former Netflix inclusion. During the 2023 launch, the games were reported as available both through Netflix and as individual purchases; check the current listing for the price and edition in your country.
Is a Netflix subscription enough to play on a TV, console, or PC?
No. The Netflix announcement covered mobile distribution. Console and PC play requires the relevant platform edition and its own purchase or entitlement.
