No. The Disney–DIRECTV blackout ended on September 14, 2024, when the companies announced an agreement in principle and said Disney’s full linear channel lineup had been restored to DIRECTV, DIRECTV STREAM, and U-verse customers. If you are missing a channel now, check DIRECTV’s current TV Channel Dispute Center for updates specific to your area; it does not identify a current Disney-specific outage.
Why were ESPN, ABC, and other Disney channels off DIRECTV?
The channels went dark for affected subscribers on September 1, 2024, during a contract dispute between The Walt Disney Company and DIRECTV. The companies disagreed over the terms for carrying Disney’s linear television channels. The blackout was resolved when they announced an agreement in principle on September 14, 2024. Their joint announcement said all channels had been restored while they worked to finalize a multi-year contract.
The parties publicly described the dispute differently. Disney said it sought rates aligned with those offered to other distributors and argued that the value of its programming and investment in content justified its position. It also said it had proposed sports-focused and entertainment-focused packages, including options combining linear channels with streaming services. Those were Disney’s claims during negotiations, not a neutral account of the disagreement. Disney’s September 4 statement cited a figure of more than 90% of DIRECTV households watching Disney linear programming each month in 2023, attributing it to Nielsen; the statement is Disney’s source for the figure, not an independently inspectable Nielsen dataset.
DIRECTV said Disney rejected its request to restore channels temporarily for the presidential debate and other programming. That was DIRECTV’s account of the negotiations. Its September 10 statement also offered a $30 bill credit at that time; that was a historical offer during the blackout, not a current remedy. DIRECTV’s statement sets out the company’s position.

These are terms described in the 2024 announcement, not confirmation of 2026 package eligibility, prices, or the current status of every service.
