Spoilers for all of Arcane season two, including the finale. Jinx appears to die while saving Vi, but the episode deliberately leaves open the possibility that she escaped. Jayce and Viktor disappear together into Jayce’s rune; the finale does not establish whether they can return. Several other characters die in the final battle, while Vi and Caitlyn survive.
Does Jinx die at the end of Arcane?
The episode shows Jinx falling with Vander/Warwick toward the Hexgate core after intervening to save Vi. It cuts away before showing Jinx’s body or confirming her fate. The strongest answer is that she appears to sacrifice herself, but her death is not confirmed.
The epilogue leaves room for another possibility. Caitlyn studies the Hexgate’s internal plans, including routes that may offer an escape, and handles fragments from Jinx’s grenade. These images suggest Jinx might have survived the fall; they do not prove that she did. TheWrap’s finale account and GamesRadar+’s explanation likewise treat the details as clues rather than confirmation.
Why the finale leaves Jinx’s fate open
Arcane co-creator Christian Linke said the ambiguity was intentional. Discussing the ending with Teen Vogue, he said: “Life isn’t always so perfectly buttoned up. War is messy. Fighting is messy.” He declined to settle the question, leaving viewers to weigh the final images themselves.

What happens to Jayce and Viktor?
Viktor attempts to assimilate humanity into a collective existence. Ekko disrupts that process with his time device, and Jayce reaches Viktor as the crisis turns. The two disappear together into Jayce’s rune, halting the immediate threat of mass ascension.
The scene presents their disappearance as a joint sacrifice, but it does not show a conventional death or explain whether either can return. The episode establishes that they are gone from the scene; calling them definitively dead goes beyond what it shows. Netflix’s production feature describes Viktor’s mental link reaching people caught up in the Hexgate battle, including Jayce, Vi, Mel, Sevika, Warwick, and Jinx.

Who dies in the final act?
The finale reports several deaths alongside its unresolved disappearances. The distinction matters: some characters’ deaths are shown or stated, while Jinx’s fate and the ultimate status of Jayce and Viktor remain open.
- Heimerdinger sacrifices himself to help Ekko return from the alternate world.
- Loris is killed by arrows during the battle.
- Maddie is killed by the ricochet of her own shot during her betrayal of Caitlyn.
- Ambessa dies in her confrontation with Mel and Caitlyn.
- Vander/Warwick falls with Jinx. By this point, Viktor’s transformation has erased the remaining remnants of Vander’s personality, and the episode presents his body as dead after the fall.
Vi and Caitlyn survive. They appear together in the aftermath.

Arcane ends its story with season two, but Netflix has said that more stories from the wider Runeterra universe are planned. That is not a promise that a future series will resolve these characters’ exact fates. For now, the finale’s firmest answers are its visible events: Jinx falls while saving Vi, Jayce and Viktor vanish together after stopping the ascension, and the episode intentionally leaves Jinx’s survival uncertain.
For context, Netflix describes Arcane as the story of sisters Jinx—formerly known as Powder—and Vi, caught on opposing sides of the conflict between Piltover and Zaun; the series is based on League of Legends. See Netflix Tudum’s season two overview.
