The monthly price rose from C$12.99 to C$14.99, a C$2 increase (about 15.4%). As of August 16, 2026, Apple still lists the service at C$14.99 per month. Apple’s current pages generally call it Apple TV, though Apple TV+ remains a familiar name for the streaming service.
What Apple TV costs in Canada
Apple’s Canadian signup page lists the subscription at C$14.99 per month after a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. Taxes may apply. Apple also advertises three months free with eligible new Apple devices, subject to offer terms, and includes Apple TV access with Apple One and the Apple Music Student Plan for eligible students. Apple Canada’s Apple TV page has current eligibility and offer details.
- Before the reported increase: C$12.99 per month.
- Current listed monthly price: C$14.99.
- Increase: C$2 per month, or C$24 over 12 months.
- Reported annual price at the time of the increase: C$129.
The August 2025 change was covered by Canadian Press reporting published by CityNews. That report said the annual subscription remained C$129. Apple’s public Canadian page currently confirms the monthly price but does not clearly display the annual option, so check your account before assuming C$129 is still available.
Monthly or annual: which costs less?
If the reported C$129 annual option is available to you, it costs less over a full year than paying the current monthly rate for 12 months.

An annual plan suits someone who expects to watch throughout the year and can confirm the renewal price. Monthly billing is more flexible if you mainly want to watch a particular series or season and then cancel.
Who may see a different effect?
Monthly subscribers
The standalone monthly subscription is the plan directly affected by the reported change. The exact date a particular subscriber saw a new charge depended on the renewal cycle and billing provider.
Annual subscribers
The annual price was reported as unchanged at C$129 when the monthly rate rose. Check the next renewal amount in your account rather than assuming that rate remains in effect.

Apple One subscribers
Apple TV is included with Apple One, so a standalone subscription increase does not by itself establish that an Apple One bill changed. Apple Canada lists Apple One plans starting at C$22.95 per month. A bundle is worthwhile only if the household uses enough of its included services to justify the total cost; compare the exact tier with the services you would otherwise pay for separately. Eligible subscribers to the Apple Music Student Plan receive Apple TV access as an included benefit, not as a separate free standalone subscription. A device offer, trial, telecom promotion, or other introductory deal may also have its own renewal date and price. Check the post-promotion terms before relying on a promotional rate.
Subscriptions billed elsewhere
If you signed up through a telecom provider or another platform, that provider may manage the charge and cancellation. If Apple TV does not appear in your Apple Account subscriptions, check the provider named on your card or bank statement.

How to check your renewal price or cancel
- On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings.
- Tap your Apple Account name, then tap Subscriptions.
- Select Apple TV and review the next billing date and renewal price.
- If you want to stop renewal, choose Cancel Subscription or Cancel Free Trial, then confirm.
Labels can vary by operating-system version, language, and billing channel. You can also manage subscriptions through the App Store on a Mac. Apple says it notifies subscribers of applicable price changes by email, push notification, and in-app notice; its instructions are at Apple Support: If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple. If a third party bills you, use that provider’s account and cancellation process.
Why a charge might be higher than C$14.99
- Tax: Provincial sales taxes may make the final charge higher than the listed monthly price.
- A different subscription: The charge could be for Apple One rather than standalone Apple TV.
- Another Apple Account: A household member may have subscribed using a separate account.
- A third-party biller: A telecom or platform provider may be handling payment.
- A promotion ended: A trial or discounted offer may have renewed at its stated regular price.
Before cancelling, identify the biller and check the subscription’s purchase and renewal details. If the amount still looks wrong, contact Apple or the provider that charged you. Apple’s support page explains subscription management and related next steps: support.apple.com/en-ca/109501.

What an Apple TV subscription includes—and what it does not
Apple describes the service as offering Apple Original shows and movies, weekly releases, offline downloads, and Family Sharing for up to six people. Apple says its Apple Originals are commercial-free. The service is available through the Apple TV app on supported Apple and Android devices, smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, and the web. Details on supported platforms are available from Apple’s Canadian TV app page.

Apple’s Canadian service page also identifies Friday Night Baseball and MLS availability; sports rights and availability depend on country and season. The page marks Formula 1 availability as U.S.-only, so it should not be treated as a Canadian benefit. The subscription does not include third-party subscription services or movies rented or purchased separately through the app. See Apple TV in Canada for current service details.
The names can be confusing: Apple TV is the streaming subscription’s current consumer branding; Apple TV+ is its widely used former branding and shorthand; the Apple TV app is the software used to watch; and Apple TV 4K is a separate hardware streaming box. The C$14.99 price is for the subscription, not the device.

Keep monthly billing for flexibility
Monthly payment makes sense if you watch selectively, are following one current show, or are not sure you will use the service next month. You can cancel after finishing a show and subscribe again when another title you want is available.

Consider the annual option for year-round viewing
If you expect to watch throughout the year, check whether the annual plan is offered in your account and confirm its current renewal price. The C$129 figure was reported at the time of the 2025 monthly increase, not prominently confirmed on Apple’s current public Canadian signup page.
Compare Apple One only if you want the other services
Apple One may suit a household already paying for several included Apple services or sharing them among family members. It is not automatically cheaper for someone who wants only Apple TV.
Use a student or device offer only when eligible
Check the terms of the Apple Music Student Plan or eligible-device offer if you already qualify. Buying a device solely to obtain streaming access is a separate and much larger expense.
Cancel or rotate if the catalogue no longer earns its place
If you subscribe for only one or two shows, compare the cost of keeping the service all year with subscribing only during the months you will watch. You can also compare the catalogues and terms of Netflix Canada, Prime Video Canada, Crave, and Disney+ without assuming their current prices or content are directly comparable.

The available Canadian reporting covers the new price and puts it in the broader context of streaming services raising prices. It does not establish Apple’s specific reason for this Canadian increase, so claims about production costs or another particular cause should be treated as speculation unless Apple states one.
