Apple TV+ held the New York world premiere of Tehran season two on May 5, 2022, at the Robin Williams Center—one day before the thriller’s global streaming debut. The eight-episode season opened on May 6 with two episodes, followed by weekly Friday releases.
A New York premiere before the streaming launch
The May 5 event brought the cast and creative team together for a red-carpet premiere and screening. Apple identified actors Glenn Close, Niv Sultan, Shaun Toub, Shervin Alenabi, Arash Marandi and Shila Ommi among those attending, alongside creators and producers Dana Eden and Moshe Zonder and director Daniel Syrkin. This was a formal premiere event, not a theatrical release.
Close was the major new addition to the season-two cast. Apple described her as a two-time Emmy Award winner and Academy Award nominee; the returning ensemble included Sultan, who leads the series as Tamar Rabinyan, as well as Toub and Alenabi. Her presence gave the season’s promotion a prominent new name, though Apple did not say she was the reason for the event.

Tehran is an espionage thriller centered on Tamar, a Mossad hacker-agent who enters Tehran under a false identity. After the nuclear-reactor mission at the center of the first season goes wrong, Tamar faces a new operation that puts people close to her in jeopardy. That is the spoiler-light setup in Apple’s synopsis; the premiere announcement did not lay out further plot details.

Season-two release schedule
- May 6, 2022: Episodes one and two arrived together.
- Fridays afterward: One new episode was scheduled each week.
- June 17, 2022: The announced schedule reached its eighth and final episode.
Apple announced the eight-episode run and weekly pattern in February 2022. Its episode archive also dates the first two installments to May 6. These are historical release dates: season two debuted in 2022, rather than being an upcoming release.
How Apple built up to the premiere
The red carpet capped a promotional rollout that began with a first-look announcement and premiere date in February. Apple released a teaser trailer on March 9 and a full trailer on April 13, ahead of the May 5 event and May 6 debut. The sequence gave the launch several milestones—announcements, trailers and an in-person premiere—rather than a release-date notice alone.

Series background
The series was created by Moshe Zonder, Dana Eden and Maor Kohn; Daniel Syrkin directed and is also credited as a co-creator and executive producer, while Omri Shenhar wrote alongside Zonder. Production credits include Donna and Shula Productions, Paper Plane Productions, Paper Entertainment, Cineflix Studios and Kan 11. Cineflix Rights handles international distribution.
