Apple Podcasts is already available at podcasts.apple.com, giving listeners a browser-based way to browse shows, play episodes, and—after signing in—access personal features such as Library, Up Next, subscriptions, followed shows, recommendations, notifications, and saved playback progress.
That makes it useful for Windows PCs, Chromebooks, Linux computers, work machines, and other devices where installing Apple’s native app is not practical. It does not, however, make the browser version a feature-for-feature replacement for the native apps.
What Apple Podcasts on the web actually is
Apple describes the service as the “full Apple Podcasts experience” in a web browser. It is more than an episode embed or a directory that sends listeners elsewhere: users can search the catalog, browse charts and editorial collections, open shows, and play episodes directly from the site.
The important addition for existing Apple Podcasts listeners is account-linked access to personal listening data. Apple says signed-in users can reach their Library and Up Next queue, follow shows, use subscriptions, receive personalized recommendations and notifications, and save playback progress across the service.

The browser experience is available at https://podcasts.apple.com/. Apple says it is available in 175 countries and regions, although catalogs, subscriptions, language, editorial collections, and content availability can differ by location.
How to use Apple Podcasts in a browser
- Open podcasts.apple.com. Apple should direct you to the relevant country or region.
- Search for a show or episode, or browse categories, charts, new releases, trending episodes, and editorial collections.
- Open a show or episode and select the play control.
- To access personal listening data, select the account or sign-in control and log in with the Apple Account associated with your Apple Podcasts library.
- Open Library or Up Next and check that your followed shows, saved episodes, and queue contents have loaded.
Apple may request two-factor authentication or verification through a trusted device. If the Library appears empty after signing in, first check that you used the same Apple Account as on your other devices.
What works without signing in?
Apple says visitors who are not signed in can browse the catalog, listen to millions of free podcasts, view Top Charts, and explore editorial collections. This is enough for occasional listening or discovering a show on a shared computer.
Unsigned-in access is not the same as the full personal service. Library access, queue synchronization, saved progress, subscriptions, and other account-linked features require sign-in. Apple also says explicit shows and episodes require an Apple Account on the web.
Library and Up Next: the practical benefit
Library is the personal area associated with your Apple Podcasts account. Depending on the content and account, it can include followed shows, saved episodes, subscriptions, and other organization features.
Up Next is the upcoming-playback queue. It can contain episodes selected from followed shows as well as episodes that you add manually. Apple’s documentation describes adding an episode through the More menu or by pressing and holding an episode in its native apps; the browser interface may use different controls as Apple changes the web layout.

The value of the web version is continuity. An Apple Podcasts listener can start an episode on an Apple device, continue on a computer, and return to another signed-in device without maintaining a separate browser playlist. Apple says playback progress can be saved on the web “just like” in the app.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat is Apple’s stated behavior, not a guarantee that every queue change will appear instantly. Account mismatches, connectivity, browser storage, service delays, or differences between app versions can affect synchronization.
Subscriptions and subscriber-only episodes
Apple’s web documentation says signed-in listeners can access subscriptions and purchase subscriptions to shows. Free episodes distributed through ordinary podcast feeds should be distinguished from Apple Podcasts channel subscriptions, which may include subscriber-only episodes or shows.
There is no universal subscription price. Individual channels set their own prices, and availability can vary by country, plan, and promotion. Apple also documents separate distribution arrangements for subscriptions connected through eligible third-party services.
Apple says subscriber episodes distributed through Apple Podcasts Subscriptions are DRM-protected and available only on Apple Podcasts. If subscription content is missing, check the Apple Account, active subscription status, country availability, and whether the content is actually delivered through Apple Podcasts rather than a separate provider.

Supported computers and browsers
The browser approach is particularly useful on:
- Windows PCs without a native Apple Podcasts app.
- Chromebooks and ChromeOS devices.
- Linux desktops.
- Managed work or school computers where app installation is restricted.
- Shared computers and temporary devices.
- Macs, iPhones, iPads, and other devices where a browser is more convenient than the native app.
Apple says the service uses a responsive design across browser environments. For the best chance of reliable playback, use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox. Browser audio permissions, autoplay restrictions, private browsing, extensions, power-saving behavior, and corporate network policies can still affect playback.
What the web app does not necessarily replace
Offline listening
Apple’s native Podcasts app advertises downloads and offline playback. The web-specific documentation does not establish equivalent browser downloads or a supported offline library. Treat the website primarily as an online listening option unless the current interface explicitly provides an offline feature.
Browser caching is not the same as a supported download. If dependable offline listening matters, a native podcast app remains the safer choice.

Apple’s native app listing advertises features such as downloads, CarPlay, Apple Watch support, transcripts, playback controls, and cross-device behavior. Browser playback should not be assumed to provide the same hardware integrations, notification behavior, background playback, or operating-system controls.

Advanced podcast-client controls
The web player may be a poor fit for listeners who need extensive queue automation, smart playlists, detailed filtering, silence trimming, smart speed, or listening statistics. Dedicated podcast clients can offer more specialized controls, though they may not provide Apple Podcasts subscriptions or Apple’s editorial ecosystem.
Private RSS feeds
Apple supports some RSS-based workflows in its native apps, but the supplied Apple documentation does not establish that every private or authenticated RSS feed can be added through the web player. Do not treat Apple Podcasts on the web as a universal private-feed client.

Video podcasts are a separate development
Apple announced a new HLS-based video podcast experience in February 2026, with web availability planned for spring 2026. The current web discovery page includes video-related sections such as “Newly Added Video.”
Recommended Free Tools
That should not be confused with the original browser-experience announcement. Video discovery on the site does not by itself prove that every native-app video control, download option, or playback behavior is available in every browser. Check the individual player and region before assuming feature parity.

The Library is empty
- Confirm that the browser is signed in to the intended Apple Account.
- Check whether shows or subscriptions belong to another account.
- Sign out and back in.
- Disable private browsing if the session cannot persist.
- Try a current browser with extensions temporarily disabled.
- Allow time for account data to synchronize.
Creating a new Apple Account is not a good first troubleshooting step: it will normally produce an empty Library and make an account mismatch look like a synchronization failure.
Up Next does not match another device
Apple positions the web version as access to the signed-in Apple Podcasts experience, but that does not promise instantaneous or perfect queue parity. Check the account, connectivity, browser session, and app versions on the devices involved.

An explicit episode will not play
Apple says an Apple Account sign-in is required for explicit shows and episodes on the web. Sign in and check whether regional restrictions also apply.
Best Value
- Active Noise Cancellation blocks outside noise, so you can immerse yourself in music
- Transparency mode for hearing and interacting with the world around you
- Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking places sound all around you
- Adaptive EQ automatically tunes music to your ears
- Three sizes of soft, tapered silicone tips for a customizable fit
Playback stops when the tab is in the background
Possible causes include browser power-saving, a suspended tab, corporate policies, network interruptions, or browser media-session behavior. Test another current browser, keep the tab open, and check system audio output and site permissions.
Subscription content is missing
Verify the account, subscription status, country availability, and delivery method. A subscription purchased or supplied through another provider may not behave like an Apple Podcasts channel subscription.
Who should use Apple Podcasts on the web?
The browser version is a strong fit for an existing Apple Podcasts listener who uses Windows, ChromeOS, Linux, a work computer, or another device without the native app. It is also useful for someone who wants Apple’s catalog, charts, editorial recommendations, and account-linked Library without buying Apple hardware.
It is less compelling for listeners who require reliable offline downloads, deep queue automation, advanced playback processing, extensive statistics, or a platform-neutral podcast workflow. Those users may prefer a dedicated cross-platform client such as Pocket Casts or Overcast, while recognizing that alternative services have their own account, platform, and subscription trade-offs.
Apple Podcasts web app versus the native app
| Need | Browser experience | Native app |
|---|---|---|
| Browse and play free public podcasts | Yes, without signing in | Yes |
| Library and Up Next | Available after Apple Account sign-in | Available in the app |
| Saved playback progress | Supported according to Apple | Supported according to Apple |
| Offline downloads | Not established as a supported web feature | Advertised by Apple |
| Apple hardware integrations | Limited by the browser and device | Better suited to native integrations |
| Private RSS workflows | Not established for every private feed | Documented for some native-app workflows |
Bottom line
Apple Podcasts on the web is a genuine browser-based version of Apple’s podcast service, not merely a collection of embedded episodes. Its main advantage is that signed-in users can bring their Library, Up Next queue, subscriptions, followed shows, recommendations, and saved progress to computers and other devices where the native app is unavailable.
Use it when browser access and continuity matter. Keep the native app—or consider a dedicated podcast client—if offline playback, hardware integration, or advanced podcast management is more important than Apple’s catalog and account ecosystem.
