Apple Podcasts is available at podcasts.apple.com, so you can browse and listen in a web browser without installing Apple’s native Podcasts app. Apple says visitors can explore charts and editorial collections and listen to free podcasts without signing in. An Apple Account is needed for personalized features and for explicit shows and episodes.
What Apple Podcasts on the web is
Apple describes the browser version as the full Apple Podcasts experience. It gives listeners a route to Apple’s catalog from computers and other devices, including Windows PCs, Android devices, Chromebooks and Linux computers. Apple says it works on any web browser and device, though that does not establish that every feature behaves identically across every browser or operating system.
This is more than an individual show or episode preview page. It is also distinct from Apple’s embed player, which publishers can place on their own websites. Native Apple Podcasts apps remain a separate option; browser access is not a Windows or Android app release.
How to listen in a browser
- Open podcasts.apple.com in a browser.
- Browse the homepage, categories, new releases, Top Charts or editorial collections, or search for a show or episode. Apple’s current web catalog includes regularly updated listings.
- Choose an episode and click its play control. If you want a Library, Up Next queue or other account features, sign in with an Apple Account.
- If an explicit show or episode is unavailable, sign in and check the account’s content restrictions and regional availability.
If playback does not start, click Play directly rather than relying on autoplay, check that the browser tab and device audio output are not muted, and try another episode. A feed, hosting, network or browser setting can also affect playback, so a failure is not necessarily an Apple service problem.

What works without signing in
Apple says visitors can listen to millions of free podcasts, browse Top Charts and explore editorial collections without an Apple Account. This makes the site useful for following a link or finding a show on a device where you do not have the native app installed. It does not mean every show or feature is available anonymously.
What an Apple Account unlocks
After signing in, listeners can access their Library and Up Next queue, subscriptions, personalized recommendations, notifications for new episodes, followed shows and saved playback progress. Apple also requires an Apple Account for explicit shows and episodes. Signing in does not override account restrictions or regional limits.

Subscriptions, explicit shows and regional availability
Apple Podcasts subscriptions can provide creator-defined benefits such as premium content or ad-free listening. They are separate from an Apple Music subscription. Prices are set by creators or publishers within Apple’s subscription system, and availability depends on the show and market. Apple’s subscription guidance explains how subscribing works.
Apple says its web service is available in 175 countries and regions, but the catalog’s features are not identical everywhere. Audio and video, paid subscriptions and trials, transcripts, explicit content, supported languages and the Apple Podcasters Program can vary by market. Check Apple’s feature availability table for the relevant country or region before relying on a particular feature or attempting a purchase.

What podcast creators and publishers should know
A browser destination gives publishers a practical Apple Podcasts link to share with audiences who may not use Apple hardware. Apple says show artwork, layout and features are designed to remain consistent across macOS, iOS, iPadOS and web browsers. Playback on the web is still subject to the listener’s browser, network, account and the show’s availability.
Apple says web playback can appear as a browser download in a hosting provider’s dashboard. That reporting term should not be read as proof that listeners receive a permanent file for offline playback. Apple’s documentation does not establish universal offline listening support for the web player.

Full web playback versus an embedded player
The full web experience is where listeners browse and play shows on Apple Podcasts. The embed player is a separate component placed on a publisher’s site; Apple says it streams progressively from the hosting provider after a visitor presses Play. Apple also says plays from the embed player do not appear in Apple Podcasts Analytics, although the hosting provider can report the stream event. Do not assume that embed reporting and playback through the full web experience are measured the same way.
Paid subscriptions and creator tools
Creators considering Apple subscriptions should check market coverage and program requirements rather than assuming every listener can purchase access. Apple’s availability table lists a $19.99 annual Apple Podcasters Program fee for the United States; that is a US-specific figure, not a worldwide price. Publishers distributing only free RSS audio may not need Apple’s paid-subscription tools.

Web version or dedicated podcast app?
The web version is a convenient access point when you want to open a link, browse Apple’s catalog or listen from a device without the native app. A dedicated client may be a better fit if offline listening, advanced queue controls, background playback, notifications or deeper device integration are essential. The available documentation does not establish feature-by-feature parity between Apple’s web player and its native apps, so check the exact behavior on your device before depending on it.
Other services may fit different habits: Spotify for listeners already using its music-and-podcast ecosystem, Pocket Casts for a dedicated cross-platform podcast workflow, or YouTube and YouTube Music for video-first listening. They are alternatives, not direct guarantees of identical catalogs, account rules or creator tools.
Video podcasts in the 2026 context
Apple’s web catalog includes video-related listings, but that alone does not mean every video feature is available to every listener or show. In February 2026, Apple announced HLS video podcast support and described web availability as coming in spring 2026. Actual access can depend on rollout, provider participation, show configuration and market support. See Apple’s video podcast announcement for that separate development.
