You can use Apple Music on a Chromebook in two documented ways: install Apple’s Android app through Google Play when the Chromebook supports Android apps, or stream Apple Music in a web browser. School- and work-managed Chromebooks may block the Play Store or Android-app downloads.
Two supported ways to listen

Apple’s Android-device support guidance specifically includes Chromebooks that support Android apps and directs users to Google Play. Google’s Chromebook music guidance separately lists Apple Music as a service that can be streamed on websites.
Install the Apple Music app
- Check whether your Chromebook supports Android apps and has Google Play enabled.
- Open Google Play and search for Apple Music, published by Apple.
- Install the app, then sign in with your Apple Account. If you already subscribe to Apple Music, use the account associated with that subscription.
The Google Play listing includes Chromebooks among its device categories, but availability is conditional rather than universal. A Chromebook model may support Android apps in general while an administrator, region, or device policy prevents installation.
Use Apple Music in a browser
- Open a browser on the Chromebook.
- Go to Apple Music on the web.
- Sign in with your Apple Account and start playback.
This route does not depend on installing an Android app, so it is the practical alternative when Google Play is unavailable or restricted. The available guidance does not establish that the web player and Android app have identical feature sets or that one always performs better.

Why the Play Store may be missing
Google says only some Chromebooks support Android apps through Google Play. On a Chromebook issued by a school or employer, an administrator can also disable the Play Store or prevent users from downloading Android apps.
- If Google Play is not present, check the Chromebook’s policy with your school or workplace administrator.
- If the store opens but Apple Music cannot be installed, the device may not meet the app’s compatibility rules or may be policy-managed.
- Do not try to bypass an organization’s restrictions; use the web player if it is allowed.
Chromebook playback controls
ChromeOS provides basic media controls for music played from the web or an app. Google says Quick Settings can pause, play, or skip the current track, allowing playback control without returning to the Apple Music window.

What “official support” does—and does not—mean
Apple’s documentation confirms a supported Chromebook path when Android-app support is available. It does not mean every Chromebook can install Apple Music. The Google Play listing also warns that some Apple Music features may not be available. The consulted Apple and Google guidance does not identify a universal list of missing features, nor does it publish a blanket app-versus-web performance result.
Store listings and device eligibility can change. The Google Play listing showed an update date of August 18, 2026 when checked on September 28, 2026; verify the current listing and your Chromebook’s Play Store status before troubleshooting further.
