Disney’s official trailer is available on Disney Video. Its central promise is captured in the film’s familiar line: “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”
What the 2025 film is about
Disney describes the movie as a live-action reimagining of the 2002 animated classic. Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl whose life changes when she encounters Stitch, a fugitive alien. Their relationship helps mend Lilo’s fractured family while drawing attention from the forces searching for Stitch.

- Lilo?s an independent little girl; Stitch is a mischievous creature from outer space, and when their worlds collide, it?s love ? and chaos! ? at first sight.
The new production uses live-action performances alongside computer-generated imagery for Stitch and the alien characters. Its story remains centered on Hawaiian family life and the meaning of ʻohana, while presenting the characters and setting through a contemporary feature-film production.

Owning the film on Blu-ray
Disney announced the Blu-ray release for August 26, 2025, making a physical copy the clearest route for viewers who want to own Lilo & Stitch at home rather than rely on a subscription catalog. Before purchasing, check the exact edition, seller, region compatibility and current stock; those details can differ between retailers and countries.
Disney Parks Blog has also documented licensed live-action Stitch merchandise in several categories. Merchandise availability is separate from the film’s Blu-ray release and varies by market.
