The View addressed a lawyer’s objection on air on September 16, 2024, after Anna Delvey challenged the show’s discussion of her Dancing with the Stars casting and whether she still owed money. The broadcast acknowledged the objection and described a document Delvey’s lawyer said showed restitution had been repaid. Her attorney, Duncan Levin, later called the statement a correction and said Delvey accepted the show’s apology.
What prompted Delvey to demand an on-air correction?
The dispute followed The View’s discussion of Delvey’s casting on season 33 of Dancing with the Stars. Co-hosts questioned whether her participation was fair and raised claims about preferential treatment and money she allegedly still owed.
On September 6, 2024, Delvey responded to a video of the segment posted by The View on X. TVLine quoted her as saying: “While you are entitled to your own opinions, you should at least get your facts straight. I served my time and paid everyone back in full 3+ years ago. Looking forward to your on-air correction.”
What did The View say in its September 16 statement?
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin read a statement saying the show had heard from Delvey’s lawyer, who objected to the assertion that Delvey still owed people money. Griffin said the lawyer had provided an Office of Victim Services document that he said showed all restitution had been repaid and victims fully compensated.

That is a report of what Griffin said about the lawyer’s submission—not an independent review of the underlying document. The cited coverage does not provide the document itself. The show’s reported wording acknowledged the objection and described the document the lawyer supplied; it should not be presented as the show independently verifying the document’s contents.
Who said Delvey was “thankful” and accepted an apology?
Those words came from Delvey’s attorney, Duncan Levin, after the broadcast—not from Delvey directly. The Independent quoted Levin’s comments to The Hollywood Reporter: “We are thankful that The View has corrected their false and defamatory statements about Ms. Delvey.”

Levin continued: “Like so many others, Anna has made mistakes and, most importantly, she has made amends by serving both time in prison and repaying all her debts in full. Anna deserves a second chance and accepts The View’s apology.” His description of the statement as a correction and apology is his characterization of the broadcast.

The Independent reported that Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, was convicted in 2019 of stealing $275,000 from hotels, banks and individuals. That reported conviction amount is separate from the later dispute about whether restitution had been repaid. The coverage cited here reports Delvey’s and her lawyer’s repayment claims but does not make the underlying restitution document available for independent verification.
