In June 2021, PerthNow reported that identical twin sisters Anna and Lucy DeCinque were both engaged to their shared boyfriend, Ben Byrne. He proposed during a picnic at Kings Park, in a scene shown on the US reality programme Extreme Sisters. The report documents the engagement at that time; it does not establish whether they later married or what their relationship is today.
What happened in the proposal?
PerthNow reported on 14 June 2021 that Byrne proposed to both sisters during a picnic at Kings Park in Perth. The proposal appeared in an episode of Extreme Sisters. PerthNow printed Byrne’s words as: “Anna you mean the world to me and I want to spend my life with you and Lucy you mean the world to me and I want to spend my life with you, too. I love you, I love you both,” PerthNow reported. This is wording attributed to Byrne by the news report, rather than an independently verified transcript.
What were the rings like?
PerthNow described the rings as matching diamond rings, each with three bands. Byrne reportedly said the three bands represented the three people in the relationship. The report did not identify a jeweller, brand, setting, or stone specifications, so the rings cannot be reliably matched to a particular product or retailer.
How long had the relationship been reported to last?
PerthNow said the sisters had shared Byrne as a boyfriend for seven years in its June 2021 report. A separate report published the same day by The Independent said both sisters had been dating him since 2011. These are the respective outlets’ descriptions of the relationship timeline; they should not be combined into a more exact duration.

Did Anna and Lucy marry Ben Byrne?
The 2021 reports establish that both sisters were engaged at that time, not that a marriage later took place. The Independent reported that they were interested in exploring marriage outside Australia, but that was a stated plan, not evidence of its outcome. No later marital status is established by these reports.
What does Australian law say about marriage?
Australia’s Marriage Act 1961, in the compilation dated 28 March 2026, says in section 94: “A person who is married shall not go through a form or ceremony of marriage with any person.” The section also contains terms, exceptions and defences. This is a limited description of Australian federal law; it does not determine the law in other countries or establish what happened to the couple after the engagement was reported.
