If you’re looking for an Anastasia musical libretto PDF, Concord Theatricals lists an authorized printed acting edition of Anastasia: The Musical. It is a physical script, not a freely downloadable PDF. Concord also offers digital score perusal for limited-time viewing through its browser or Reader+; that is not described as an unrestricted file download.
Which Anastasia is this?
The stage musical Anastasia: The Musical has a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Concord Theatricals identifies it as inspired by the Twentieth Century Fox motion pictures, by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical, and derived from Marcelle Maurette’s play as adapted by Guy Bolton. Concord’s licensing page identifies the musical and its creators.
Concord’s catalog also includes a separate, older play titled Anastasia. Check that a listing says Anastasia: The Musical and credits McNally, Flaherty, and Ahrens before purchasing or perusing a script.
Authorized script and digital formats

Concord describes digital piano-vocal score perusal as browser or Concord Reader+ access for up to four weeks. That limited viewing option is distinct from a downloadable PDF copy of the libretto. Prices and stock can change; check the shop listing before ordering.
Script, score, and performance rights are different
- Acting edition: the printed script for reading or production use.
- Large-print or stage-manager edition: alternative print formats listed by Concord.
- Digital score perusal: time-limited viewing of score material, not an unrestricted script download.
- Production license and materials: the route for a theater group seeking permission to perform the musical and access to licensed production materials. Concord lists production materials such as vocal books and piano-vocal rehearsal or performance scores. These are not the same as buying an individual libretto.
For schools, community theaters, and professional companies, consult Concord’s licensing information rather than treating an acting edition or score perusal as performance permission.

The musical draws on the story of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, the youngest daughter of Nicholas II and Alexandra. Concord’s study guide notes that after Nicholas’s abdication and the family’s custody, the Romanovs were moved to Tobolsk and later to the Ipatiev House in Yekaterinburg; the family was executed in July 1918.
The musical is drama informed by history, not a documentary record. Its plot and staging should not be used as a substitute for historical sources on the Romanovs.
